Vik, I actually was disappointed w/this ep of American Idol. I thought the performances were kinda boring--I think I liked that Ryan girl the best (despite her outfit--ugh!). She has performed a wide variety of songs and her voice is great! I esp. love Nat King Cole so she won me over. I don't know, I thought the guys were esp. mediocre. The ballads just didn't do it for me. Are you voting??

I have only seens a couple of episodes of "Alias," so I don't really know what to say on that one. What is "Angel?" Are you referring to "Dark Angel?" If so, I have never seen an episode of that show.

Cable just leaves me with too many choices.

I noticed that "Dances With Wolves" is on one of the channels tonight, but I have a hard time watching really good moviess with constant commercial interruptions. And "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock" is on once "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" is over, but i might pass on that one. I must get my fix of "The Simpsons" in 45 minutes.

I just remember looking around in the theatre and going "am I really the only one who thinks this is horrible?" and everyone else was glued to the screen. I just found Kevin's acting ridiculous (as usual) and the story bad...I don't know, I thought it was just really awful all the way 'round. I can see why the Native American community was up in arms. I just didn't think it was well written and kind of came off as a joke to me. This lady I worked with at the time held that movie so dear to her heart and when she found out I hated it, she could barely speak to me. I found that amusing, to say the least. It's not like I flaunted it--she kept asking me about it! ANYWAY...thanks for not minding that I said that. Some people get all riled if you disagree with them. :) Not me!

I don't get riled up if someone disagrees with something I think. That would be foolish. There's always going to be someone that doesn't agree with what one thinks about anything, so getting all worked up over it is rather fruitless.

Having said that, I guess I would disagree that it was badly writen, I though it was a reasonably entertaining story from beginning to end, and I thought it was one of Costner's better performances as an actor. I enjoyed the cinematography in the movie as well, and I also like the title theme.

As for the Native-American community, I can't recall offhand, but I thought they helped him a great deal in the making of this film. I thought their objections later had more to do with the fact that Costner was betraying them in a way when he wanted to build some kind of resort/casino on Native-American land that they considered sacred.

In any event, feel free to disagree with me if that's how you feel. There's no harm in reasonable minds not agreeing. :)

NW: the last horrible episode of Real World. Thank goodness.

Just finished watching the first segment on "Dateline" about the Van Damme trial and the strategy being used by the defense of attacking the parents lifestyle.

I find it interesting that you can't do that in a rape trial, but you can in a murder trial. I just hope the jury is intelligent enough to see through the ol' "muddying the waters" tactic. The defense has nothing better they can do to defend Westerfield.

They also mentioned that Damon Van Damme was ordered by the judge to stay away from the courthouse. It seems he was asking a lot of questions about how and when they bring Westerfield to court.

But now it's time to switch to something else. The rest of "Dateline" ia all fluff, non-news stuff.

Now watching "Cheers" on Nickelodeon.

I've been forced to serve on too many juries...I am really bitter about the justice system and I can't take those court shows. They usually just make me angry...

I know, Vik--I still think of her as 14! But yeah, she had a girl on Father's Day...they did a documentary on her pregnancy and the ep where she had a baby just aired tonight.

I woke at 3:00am this morning to get ready for my last day of work for the week, switched on the television which was still on the Comedy channel from the previous night, and what do I see?

A half-hour infomercial for the video classic, "Girls Gone Wild!" :r Not that I necessarily mind the idea of seeing a lot of young, attractive women getting drunk, wild, and crazy while removing most of their clothing (hey, I'm still a red-blooded American male), but I can't believe that someone actually decided that they needed to make a half-hour infomercial for this "product." :r :n :e

Actually, I think they're a lot farther along than that. Perhaps the mid-20s. This particular episode was a rerun. I recognized the first segment titled "Poly-Love," which was about polygamous relationships, as i recall.
