So today for lunch I grabbed a bag of Frito-Lay SmartFood popcorn with my lunch for a snacky thing.

I'm eating my bag, yum yum, when all of a sudden I look in the bag and I see this black thing.

I thought it was a burnt kernel. But just to be sure I poured it out on a napkin -

Well, what does the burnt kernel turn out to be?? A FLY.

A dead nasty fly. I proceed to turn into my waste paper basket and vomit up my lunch and my popcorn snacky.

After I run down to the corner market to get a toothbrush and paste, I called Frito-Lay and screamed at them.

Their solution? They are going to give me free popcorn and KFC meals.

Right, because I'll ever eat any of their food again.

I don't know if I would have been quite that grossed out by the fly. I wouldn't have been pleased--that particular bag would have ended up in the trash. I'd probably still eat their food, though. I can't help it. Their popcorn has some sort of addicting brain-washing chemical in it.

When I was young I was gleefully chowing down some jelly and crackers and I looked down and saw a dead CRICKET imbedded in my last cracker. That made me throw up, and I didn't eat jelly for another two years.

I wouldn't want anyone to talk about diarrhea while I was eating, or anything else like that. It's rude and it's inappropriate, and yes, it's gross.

first their product doesnt say it contains an extra surprise or bugs included so it SHOULD NOT be left alone and should be bitched about, i would never eat that product again either if it happened to me unless it was a fav of mine because u eat with the fear u may eat a bug. also i am also one of those ppl who dont get grossed out easily while eating u can talk about almost anything..except puke while eating creamed corn or mushroom soup..if i ever ate those 2 and someone mentioned it look like puke i wouuld gag cuz it does and it feels like it too in your mouth! *shivers thinking about it*

little hint as things like that have happned to me before:
u can get all kinds of free shit for writing to companies who food/drink product is not up to par or even is...u write them saying what happened where u bought it what date n store n what i usually do is threaten to tell others not to buy their product and tell them how pissed i am and they send u all kinds of shit free.
i have legitimetly done this for beer (bottle mouth was chipped-got a free 6 pk), milk(went bad b4 due date-got 4 coupons for free 4l bags of milk), cheese(went bad 2 days after buying not due date yet-got a few buck more than i paid for it)
and called raid to tell them how effective their product was and they sent me free shit too.

yeah..

isn't it also something like the average human eats like 3 spiders in their lifetime, or every year or something? at night, when you're sleeping, or something? heh. I think I heard that once. :m

probably just some dumb rumour, but there are microscopic life forms everywhere that we ingest in our bodies on a daily basis, so yeah. Something to think about next time you sit down to have a meal. :)

2) One does expect food they buy to not have dead things in it (that is of course unless it's part of the mix).

3) If a fly is so easily in their factory what else is in there?

It's all about quality control. I'm not hyper sensitive about "eww don't talk about that while I'm eating."

I just found it very disgusting that a dead bug was in my food.

I can certainly sympathize with you, p@. If ever I found a dead creature in my meal, I would certainly be disgusted. Unless, of course, it was supposed to be there. Hell, bread mold creeps the fuck out of me, and I always cautiously sniff the bottle of milk when it's close to the printed date, half-expecting to get that unpleasant sour smell that could seriously make me lose my appetite.

I have heard of countless beyond-disgusting bug-food stories, though, that make me extremely grateful I've never had the displeasure of experiencing. I am a wuss.

For some reason though, I was kind of fascinated with them in the old house. Probably because I was 7 and thought gross bugs were the coolest things ever. Amazing how that interest leaves with adolescence.

That sucks that you found a fly in your food, but honestly, grow up a bit here....

To ensure bugs never ever get in any of the food you eat, they'd have to go over every bit of it by hand, which would raise the costs immensely. Some food will have a fly, cocroach, dead parrot, or even a festering zombie in it sometimes. It can't be helped, bugs are small and very fast, sometimes they get into things before you realize it.

That sucks! I mean, I'm not the type of person to freak out if a bug is in my food, but I get that you are, so I'm sorry.

My theory is though, odds are that could happen with almost any food company. So if it happens once in awhile, that's fine. But if everytime I opened a box of cherrios and there was a bug in it, I'd avoid General Mills at all costs.

As the misshped biscuits came past us on the line, some of the girls would pick biscuits up and take bites out of them, then put them back on the line. Ok so by the time they got crushed up and recooked all of the germs'd be gone, but that's still gross. I also couldn't tell you the number of times I probably sneezed (accidentally) on biscuits. My point?
