My 3 1/2 year old took a header off the coffee table and needed 2 stitches above his eyebrow. And he has a nice shiner to go along with it.
All this happened while I was multi-tasking in the kitchen. I had laundry going, was loading the dishwasher and trying to keep my 18 mo old out of it @ the same time, put on the Mac and Cheese for lunch, and I got a call from my boss asking me to work Sunday when I heard the crash followed by a blood curdling scream.
I found him in the family room, blood running down the side of his face, hysterically crying. This got my little one upset and she joined in.
Thank God Grandma only works 10 minutes away- she came home and watched my daughter while I took him to the PED. I was just there 3 days ago with my daughter- her eardrum was ready to rupture.
And how was your day?:i

Coffee tables are evil!
I spent my 6th birthday in emergency room because I cracked my chin on the edge of ours. I needed 6 stitches - so I can definitely feel for your little one. :a

I think this happens to every kid at about this age. I have an eyebrow-level scar from something similar. My boy did that when he was five ... kept leaning back on his chair's back legs, despite our repeated warnings and despite us pulling the chair's front legs down to the floor every time he did it. That ended after he fell backward into the coffee table and took a couple of stitches to the back of his head.

I remember when I was five and there was a set of twin beds that me and my lil sister use to sleep in. My parents would tell me "Now Stephanie, don't jump from bed to bed! it's dangerous!" Well, what did I do? I jumped from bed to bed (cmon! it was fun! :p ) So anyway I was jumping and instead of landing on the mattress, I landed on the floor and my head landed on the steel rods (? things that hold up the box springs and mattresses) and busted open my right eyebrow. I had to go to the doctor and get stitches (I don't remember how many) and all I did was cry. Then my dad promised me if i was good, and quieted down he would buy me the strawberry shortcake house. oh, and what happen?!?! I didn't get the strawberry shortcake house like he said I could. I still hold that against him to this day (even though he is a good dad and all... :) )
Your story is a good reason for me to stay on birth control. I could not imagine raising 2 kids under the age of 5. I would go bald :p

wow i had to laugh reading these posts - i also have a scar below my eyebrow from a glass coffee table with square corners, could my parents have been more stupid?!
my son has one same place different eye from slamming his own head on the arm of the couch during a temper tantrum- he hit it just at the right spot where the stuffing was worn so it was material and wood. eef.
i do not deal well with my own kids blood.
good luck!

The blood was no big deal. It was just the WORST moment for that to happen! Too many things happening @ once. And my daughter getting on the crying band wagon didn't help my son calm down.
Don't you love the fact that my son asks for anyone but ME when this happened? When he's 15 he'll hold me responsible, won't he?
I got hit by a car @ the same age and had to be hospitalized. I still have a scar- but you can barely see it. Thank God for plastic surgeons!:n
My little one has had two major injuries so far and she is only 2. First one happened while my two daughters were playing in the living room and I was in the bedroom folding laundry. I heard my little one start to scream and then as I ran out my oldest ran up to me and said " I didn't do anything". I looked at my 2 year old and she was lying between the Rocker and the ottoman kind of sandwhiched. I called to her and she stood up and as I came over to her she fell to the ground and just laid there. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms against my chest and all of a sudden I noticed blood dripping down her neck, I turned her around facinf away from me and saw that the back of her head had been cut open. I panicked, called my husband and we took her to the hospital, where she got 4 staples in her head to close the wound.
Not even a month later on a wednesday night, my daughters were jumping on my bed ( I sleep on a mattress on the floor) and I was vaccuuming my bedroom. I put one of their little chairs on the bed and my oldest got on it and started to jump off, only when she did the chair went out from underneath her and landed on my other daughters face cutting her right underneath her right eye. Her eye swelled shut and she had to get 3 stitches to close that wound.
Fortunately, there have been no accidents since those.
