View Full Version : What (if anything) are you getting your dad for Fathers Day?
Ok, yes, I need ideas. The only thing I've come up with is a tshirt, cuz he can always use tshirts.
What are you getting your dad?

I have NO CLUE!
The last few years I lived far away, so I got away with just sending a funny card. Now I'm back home......ugh, I hate shopping for him! I'll probably end up getting him a shirt that my mom will have to pick out.
space cakes~ how generous of you! I wish I was your sister! ;)

Well, I'm going to end up getting them (my step dad and my real dad) e-cards.
I was planning on going home over the week-end only my plans got all messed up. I was going to take my bio. dad out to lunch. But now it's even too late to send a REAL card so the internet it is.
I feel really shitty about it, too.
Spacegrrrl, you could still send a card. Do both, e and regular.

I thought about it. But I think the real one would sort of seem like an afterthought.
I don't know why I'm so worried and I HATE that they have these holidays that make us feel guilty if we don't comply. I mean, my dad knows I love him and I always do nice stuff for him the rest of the year so it really shouldn't even matter.
Afterthought???? If you mail it tomorrow, the postmark will be 2 days before Father's Day.
But, do what you want. It's sad that we all freak out over these things...

The postmark might be before Father's Day but he'll get it two days AFTER Father's Day. Or they will, I should say.
Anyway, why don't you plan on doing something with your dad. A day out somewhere. Go to a movie or something.
I like the word "something". Yep. ;S

Love. Because we just found out this past week he doesn't have prostate cancer. He's already had it once in his life...*sigh*...he means so much to me.

I'm gonna give him money and a card because he's hard to buy for. This way he can get what he wants.

Wow, I didn't think I'd see so much hostility towards one's father in this thread... Anyway, I think I have one of the best dad's in the world. I didn't get my mother anything for mother's day because I am poor. So to celebrate both mother's day and father's day I bought them tickets to see Robin Williams in July. The best part is, they have NO clue! :p They are going to be so surprised because they were mentioning to me that they would love to see him but didn't want to fork over the cash for the outrageous ticket prices. I paid $50 each for the tickets and they are in the second row in the balcony. Not that bad, but I wasn't paying $100 each for them to be on the floor. Oh, I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they see the tickets! :) Yay, go me!

My dad is a big (american) football fan. He has had season tickets to the SF 49ers games for years.
My husband works for a sports novelty company. Sometimes, they gets athletes, past and present, stopping by the offices.
Just so happened that last month, a retired 49er player stopped the office. My husband got him to sign a football to my dad.
So as a joint gift from my husband, my younger sister, and myself we're giving him the signed football in a nice display case.

Anyway, I decided to get him a Star Trek DVD, cuz I think he's only got like 1 or 2 DVDs. :O
(Spacegrrrl, the reason I don't do an "us" kinda day is that we don't have that kind of relationship.... Sad, but true...)

I understand. My mom and I are that way. As are my stepfather and I. Although my relationship with my mother is improving slightly; it only took 28 YEARS!
