OK, I am asking cause I get all sorts of people shocked an amazed at out bedtime for our daughter. She goes to bed at 6:30. It is the optimal time before she gathers her second wind, if we put her down any later she cries in her bed forever. She is 2 years 7 months. Ok so is this normal, or are we freaks (which we have been called). People wonder how we do it and all sorts of stuff. So I am wondering what other parent's times are. Just out of curiosity.

Our 14-month-old daughter generally falls asleep sometime between 9 and 10 pm. We don't yet have a set bedtime for her. Once she's down, she's usually (but not always) out until right around 630 am, by which time we're already up anyway ... or we should be. She's our emergency alarm clock, in fact. Our 8 year old generally gets to bed by 830pm ... it's drifting toward 9pm now that it's summer. And he STALLS when we ask him to go. So the more he stalls, the earlier we start sending him to bed ... this so that we can get some time for ourselves after the kids are asleep!

That is another reason we put her sown earlier, we want to have some time for ourselves. Our 8 month old will generally fall asleep at 7:30 wake up about 11 for a bottle and then sleep til 8. The oldest one that goes down early sleeps til about 8 also. Granted the child won't take naps during the day and they may be why she goes down so early. But still I get ragged on by alot of people who hear that she goes to bed that early. Like what kind of pill do we give her and that kind of silly crap.

Our daughter does still take a nap during the day ... this is probably why she's getting to bed so late. This will change as she gets older, I trust. :)

Personally if it works well for your child, that is what is most important. Before my youngest was in school, I would let her stay up til she was ready to go to bed...she knew when she had reached her limit and needed to go. <br>This is one aspect of school starting that I dread...switching bedtimes. It doesn't get dark til 8:30 and it is kinda hard to get a 9 and 13 y o to think about winding down when the sun is still out and neighborhood kids are still playing outside.

My kids (soon to be 4 and 2) are put into their room between 8-9pm. Room darkening shades help. We try and keep them on a regular schedule so we have time together as well.

We recently went in vacation and stayed at a friends house with kids the same age- her kids wouldn't go to bed until nearly 11pm. There she was reading the 4th story while my son, who shared a bed with her son, was snoring away!

My husband and I are SLEEP NAZIS!!

*in best German accent*

I totally need time to myself in the evening, I could never tolerate a small child up beyond 7:30-or 8.
My 2 year old goes to bed around 7-7:30 and sleeps 12 hours. She also naps.
During the school year(when I'm working and we get up early) it is not unheard of for her to go at 6:30. The earlier, the better I say! Don't listen to other people-they're just jealous.
