View Full Version : For those trying to cancel Ticketmaster orders....

hey everyone--

Just a few words on cancelling orders with ticketbastard: earlier this year, one of my credit cards was stolen and about $600 in wrestling tickets were ordered from TM. Luckly I found out about this before TM had even sent out the tickets and I let my credit card company know and they contacted ticketmaster and took care of the situation.

Or so I thought. Little did I know that Ticketmaster had blacklisted me from using their services. I found this out most unfortuantely when the two tickets I got for the general admission Rolling Stones show in NYC were cancelled. Every order I've placed since has also been cancelled (for this tour, I've resorted to using family & friend's credit cards & addresses).

I contacted the Better Business Bureau about this situation and I finally got a response from them earlier this week. Basically TM said that they incurred a revenue loss because of my chargeback (having my credit card company cancel the order) and they must do what they think is in their best interest to prevent such losses in the future. So basically, unless I get some sort of special permission, they are going to cancel any order I place using my current address and phone number.

I just don't want any one else to go through the same thing so be careful about cancelling your orders. I'd suggest selling your extras... you'd help out other EWFs and get your money back too-- a win-win situation.

Wow....

I don't even know what to say except Ticketmaster is even more evil than I thought.....

I'm pretty sure calling Ticketmaster up and having them cancel the tickets is different than having your Credit Card Company refute the charges.

I was afraid of reading a story like this!

My keyboard stopped working this morning during the pre-sale and I couldn't type - so obviously I couldn't order. (I eventually got it worked out but it took a while.) Anyway, in the meantime I called my mom to try and look for tickets for me on her puter. Well, she accidentally hit the "submit order" button instead of "look for more tickets" and they were really horrible seats. So I was all upset and she was all upset so she called to see if they would cancel them.
They did - for a $37.00 fee! *&%#@ &$@!*

And since I knew they would cancel any duplicate orders with the same addy for the presale, I was afraid to try again with mine. What a pain in the ass.

In retrospect, I should have told her just to keep the bad tickets and we would buy more.

This day...

blue girls,

They cancelled a second set I accidently ordered with no problem. I only paid a 3 dollar fee. I wonder why everyone is having different results with this?!

In all fairness to ticketmaster, just think of the madness if we all bought tickets, found better ones, cancelled them, found better ones, cancelled them....see what I mean?

I cancelled some of the tickets I accidently ordered today, without a problem :)

I was pleasantly surprised.

yes as someone who works in a box office i can tell you, where I work we stick by the "No Refunds or Exchanges" policy and we're very strict about it.
Obviously there are some extreme cases where you might need to cancel an order, but otherwise that's kind of the price you pay (literally) for trying several times for seats. it sucks but it's just how it goes.

I've cancelled tickets SEVERAL times with ticketmaster with no problems whatsoever.

What you do is, or what i have done every time is this. Call up and say

"Hi. I gave my credit card to my sister to order tickets for me this morning and she bought tickets for the wrong show in the wrong state, i need to cancel them"

is what I say if i'm buying tickets for a show out of state.

for a show in state you just say

"Hi. I have received a confirmation e-mail for tickets that I didn'tk now that i had bought. The web page was acting werid and it must have processed my order. I have no use for the other pair. I need to cancel them"

EVERY time they've done it extremely quickly and with no charge at all

Ticketbastard is composed of some of the most incompetent business practices I've ever encountered. After double placing an order from me during last week's presale, and thus giving me eight tickets, I immediately called to cancel the order. After being kept on hold for forty five fucking minutes, a sales associate finally assisted me and assured me that my order would be cancelled and my credit card reimbursed by the following day at the latest. Yesterday, I received all eight of the tickets in the mail. I had to call back ticketmaster, and was informed that the cancellation was never processed. I now have had to submit a formal request/complaint demanding a total reimbursement to my card, as well as for the handling and postage. I have to wait a week and a half still for them to receive the tickets, correctly (insert sarcasm) process the cancellation, and finally reimburse my card. As for now, I have an almost $200 charge on my card that I cannot afford. Bastards.:s

deliah- I'm amazed the order went through since the limit for the pre-sales was 4 tickets. You might want to mention that in your complaint.

Crazy stories. It sounds like the person who answers your call and/or what you say can make all the difference in the world in how they handle cancellation requests.

This JUST happened to me. But it turned out happy.

I was ordering tix for the Chicago sale yesterday..kept pulling up shitty ones. One time, instead of hitting the link to go back, I submitted the order. It was for balcony uber shitty seats.

So I called ticketbastard, and after a few different agents, they finally relented. I called again to make sure they did it, and the agent said the whole transaction had been voided.

So, I'm online..and my friend IMs me telling me she got pit seats from the pre-sale.. I rush to get some, get 5th row, and go to checkout AFTER checking my account balance (I had more than enough) and BAM! I get denied. Try again, and again. Denied.

THanks to a kind forumz person, I got backed up. She ordered tix for me and I got EVEN better seats in the pit! So I'm lucky. But I'll have to have a chat with ticketbastard.

Yup I made sure to do that and indicated my confusion at that as well...I wrote them a very bitchy letter demanding a total refund for the charge and for additional postage and handling fees:e

well i ordered six tickets by accident when getting tix for tempe. the third pair is the best seats and the second i submitted the order, i realized that the ticket limit was four. (i only need two tix). presumably the tickets they will cancel will be the last pair. so i emailed their customer service since i cant use the phone from work, and got a stock email that says they'll deal with me in a few days. so now i'm afraid to call because i don't want double cancellations. also will having them cancel tickets on me cuz I went over limit have me blacklisted? :( i have lots more tickets to buy! now i'm terrified.

an update for anyone interested, and a request for help on what i should do, if anything.

ticketmaster has charged all 6 (three pairs of) tickets to my credit card. now what? they obviously haven't looked at my email, and i'm too afraid to call. if i'd sat and done nothing, likely the going over the ticket limit would not have been noticed and i would have received all my tickets. now i've called attention to myself. i have a sinking feeling that they're gonna send me all the tickets and THEN demand a pair back when they finally get to my email. and i am gonna need to sell these extra tickets. am i so screwed? i'm scared to call anybody about this, for fear that they'll cancel the best seats...and since they're already charged, its infinitely more complicated. what to do, what to do?

anyone got any ideas?

If the tickets are paid for, printed, and in your possession, they really can't demand anything in return from you. They might notice and cancel the ones that went over the limit before they print them off though (and certainly refund you i would hope).

If you can afford it, I would just wait it out. You can always sell the extras to people around here or on ebay.

ticketmaster is stupid sometimes (most of the time).. if they're going to have ticket limits, they have to have a better way of following the guidelines, by not allowing anyone to even be able to order more.

thanks brandon.

so you think once i have them in hand, it's safe to sell them? cuz if that's the way for me to get the best seats, then i'll gladly take all six. ideally tho, i wish they would cancel the worst pair (the second i bought) which, ironicly, are the closest row (but far left). i agree about better inforcement of ticket limits. i mean, for me it was just an accident, but others (scalpers and the like) i'm sure deliberately go over limit if they can get away with it...how bloomin frustrating this all is.

the waiting is the hardest part. like how long does it usually take to get the tickets, i always forget. because i'll get my credit card bill by the end of the month...yeesh, it already has 500 dollars of tickets on it cuz of the Counting Crows show i had to buy four tickets for (I don't even LIKE them)...ticketmaster should be bending over for me with all the money i'm throwing at them, i swear...

For me, it generally takes 5 - 7 DAYS after they print the tickets, before I get them in the mail. You can check and see when they printed by going to the "Check My Order" thing at the top of the main page of TM. Neither of the Chicago shows have been printed yet. I don't know which show you're talking about, so the other ones from this week may have already been printed (they have no set order around there really, when they print things)

the tickets are for the tempe show, and they were all printed today. my counting crows tickets purchased a day earlier haven't been printed yet. so i guess either nothing will happen and i will receive all the tickets, or ticketbastard will mess my shit up....we'll see.

so i may have two pair of tix for tempe up for sale, 8th and 10th rows, or you know, i may have nothing...

i could use an 800 number too. even the local tm office here is long distance, due to L.A. ridiculously huge amount of area codes. but anyway, ticketmaster got back to me about the tempe debacle. their response: we sent all the tickets to you, call us when you get them and we'll tell you what to do. UGH! i hate them. so maybe i'll have only one pair to sell after all.

I looked at an online phone book site because I was almost positive that the Colorado ticketmaster had an 800# but I couldn't find it! I thought it was:
1-800-830-8497
but on the site it said (303) 830-8497. So I'm confused.

I wish I was more helpful. I'm sorry you guys are having such a hard time with all of your tickets! :a
