He died early this morning in the hospital...he had been dealing with Hodgkin's Disease, a cancer of the blood, for some time now. He had already personally picked an actor to replace him in the Harry Potter movies, though I can't recall his name...he was a wonderful actor and very colorful personality, as all who saw him doing the press rounds last November can attest. He had a very distinguished and long career.

And this is OT, but also keep in your thoughts the death of another wonderful man, Senator Paul Wellstone (Democrat from Minnesota) who died today in a horrific plane crash with his wife, his daughter, and several of his staff members, along with the pilots of the plane.

The world has definitely suffered a significant loss on several fronts today. :a

Indeed it has. Maybe Mondale can get Senator Paul Wellstone's position. Although he isn't quite the statesman that Wellstone was.

And Richard Harris always seemed more of a Force of Nature, than just an actor to me. I have most of his movies in my collection, and I also have an LP, The Richard Harris Love Album, where he sang MacArthur Park.

I didn't even know the guy was in Gladiator till I checked on imdb.com. Looks very different in that movie than he did in Gladiator.

Rath_Dawg: Definitely sucks that he's gone...never saw anything with him before Gladiator.

I found out about this MANY hours ago..but have been away from the forumz.....how sad indeed. It's nice to know he picked a successor for the HP role....but Richard Harris himself can never be replaced. :a

Yeah it really sucks that Harris died. Unfortunately I've been concentrating a lot more on Wellstone, which is really sad for me and the whole state. Like I posted in the OIT thread I met him twice and he remembered me the second time from the first time. One of my teachers was crying and they were all very upset. We need more people like him, not less.. I really hope they can convince Mondale. He has very similar views and while, like JCL said not the statesman Wellstone was, I think he'd try to do what Wellstone would have wanted. :c
