did you have your children immunized? are there any you refused?
do you have any links to unbiased info about immunizations?
the reason i ask is my daughter is having a mild reaction to her MMR that she recieved a couple of weeks ago. just a mild rash but now i am questioning my decision.

You can try my old chiro's website. He has links to all sorts of stuff. I think the vaccination links may be biased (against), though.

I've got to start thinking about the MMR jab for my son and I'm not sure which way to go. I like the idea of protecting him against as many diseases as possible but I have read that the increase in asthma is possibly because the immune system has so little to do nowadays that it starts attacking itself.
The possible link between MMR and autism is also a little scary but all advice form doctors etc. is that it is as safe as anything can be. My midwife had both of her children immunised and even though one is mildly autistic she says she wouldn't change her mind. maybe the rise in autism is because it's more widely recognised now? Anyway, I'm babbling.
My son had longer reactions to the early jabs (HIB, MenC etc.) than they led me to believe. He was very irritable for several days after each dose but he was soon back to normal. I hope your daughter's rash clears up soon.

eek!
i'm thinking that there are a TON more immunizations than i'm aware of! (so much to learn, still!!)
MMR, HIB??
all i know is that there are shortages! last year, when i went to my well woman's check up, she suggested that i try to get an immunization for the chicken pox long before we try for a baby, since i'd never had it.
i got ONE of the two shots...simply because the doctor's offices couldn't find any!! ONLY the health department had it, and they were going to charge me like $70 a piece!
my doctor, luckily, had ONE shot...i got it, but didn't get my booster...
*crosses fingers that i have a teensy bit of immunity to chicken pox*

In the UK, the immunisations go like this:
Diphtheria/Tetanus/Whooping Cough - single injection at 2, 3 and 4 months
Polio - given orally at 2, 3 and 4 months
Hib (Haemophilius Influenza) and Meningococcal C - single injection also at 2, 3 and 4 months
Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) - single injection given between 12 and 18 months
Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio and MMR - booster between 3 and 5 years
Heaf Test and BCG (for Tuberculosis) - between 10 and 14
Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio - booster between 15 and 18
There are bound to be some differences to the US. I know that you will also be offered the Chicken Pox jab but that's not available here yet, although the news today said that it may be soon. Again, I don't know if there is the same worry about MMR in the US. People are concerned here that there may be serious side effects with the combined jab, but apparently the single injections aren't as effective. I keep checking the latest on the internet but I still haven't made up my mind!
btw, I've never been vaccinated against Chicken Pox and both me and my son are just fine!
CDC used to have a helpful website on the subject.<br>RE: autism and shots....they just have concluded another extensive study and have yet to find a link between the two. Also, CA has reported an increase over 200 percent in the number of children with Austism. They have ruled out misdiagnosis

I'm sure there must be another reason for the increase in autism.
I'm not suggesting that there are misdiagnosis (correct plural? I don't know), just that it may be more easily identified by your common or garden doctor; that they have greater access to the symptoms indicating autism and are therefore sending more cases to specialists.
I think more studies need to be undertaken to ascertain the reasons behind the sudden increase in autism - something in our enviroment, the school system, cfc's? anything! At least then I could put my mind to rest!!!

I have my children immunized. I just rather them be protected from all those diseases. Mine have never had any bad reactions other than a mild temperature for a day. But that is to be expected.
The doc did give them the chichen pox shot. It would be nice if they never have to go through it. I didn't get it til I was 18 and it was horrible.
