our family's special song is 'here comes the sun' by the beatles and it's the one i played to ethan when he was in my tummy.
i also had a special connection to george harrison's 'my sweet lord' (i really wanna see you, i really wanna be with you, but it takes so long....) all during my pregnancy.
now, tori's 'gold dust' is THE mother & child song and i cry happy tears every time i hear it.

what's your song(s)?

right now, it's "the itsy bitsy spider" :p He loves that.

He has a great fondness to "Golden Slumbers" (beatles), and "1,000 Oceans" (Tori). But then again he also likes "hot in here" (nelly - :p )

It's "A" Your're Adorable
I've been singing it to her since she was tiny.
A-Your're adorable
B-your're so beautiful
C-your're a cutie full of charms
D-your're delightful
and
E-your're exciting
F-your're a feather in my arms...
It's a song from the 40's...I think I'd seen it in a Shirley Temple movie or something like that

That's a neat idea....

We don't have one, but we both like listening to "Alice's Restaraunt" and Mojo Nixon's "Elvis is Everywhere." :p

Okay, for both my boys it was the Lawrence Welk goodnight song:

Good night
Sleep tight
And pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish
And a Prayer
That every dream comes true

And now, till we meet again (sang off key and crooning for extra annoyance as they get older)

Adios
Au Revior (spelling?)
Auf Wederzein

Good Night!

My oldest also had to suffer through He Has Boogers In His Nose sung to the tune of Turkey in the Straw:

He has boogers in his nose, he has boogers in his nose
He's got big green boogers in his nose
We're gonna get 'em out, gonna get em out,
We're gonna get those boogers in his nose!
(He would put his hand over his nose and run away screaming NO! - Great Fun!:D

"Landslide"

It's the first song I ever sang to her, and we sing it together a lot, now that she's older.

I still remember the day, years ago when she was about 2- 2 1/2, when she fell and bumped her head on the kitchen table. She crawled up into my lap, snuggled her head into my chest, and said "Mama, will you sing me our song? The one about the 'snow covered hills'?" It was so sweet, I nearly started crying ;) We sing it everytime she's sad or upset or has trouble sleeping, and it works like a charm.

The first song my son ever heard was "One" by U2, on the way home from the hospital. He's so NOT into music that he doesn't appreciate it.

Neither of them remember, but I used to bop around with them to "Love Shack." They both LOVED the "bang bang bang on the door, baby" part! :p

when I was preggers with #1 my then hubby wrote a lullabye.

Go to sleep little one
Go to sleep little one
For the Lord is looking at you
Go to sleep little one
But not a peep little one
For He sees everything that you do
Now the time has come
For me to say good night
And quietly turn out the light
But dont you fret
No dont you fear
For the Lord is always near.

They all loved it and even though they are teens now ~sob~ they still want me to sing it.

My husband insisted on singing Jimi Hendrix "Let Me Stnad Next To YOur Fire" to my son while clapping his hands and bouncing him on his knee when he was an infant.

I sang "Ripple" from the Grateful Dead to lull my daughter to sleep many nights when she was coilcky.

But, hearing my daughter sing the alphabet A,B,C,D,E,I,E,I,O! takes the cake!:O

My girls and I have many songs....we sing sooooo much in our house so it's different every week. I think we have the most fun when we sing together.

Right now my girls are really into School House Rock... Interplanet Janet and Them not so dry bones!

My little Shedemon! Currently she enjoys singing "Sing, Sing a Song" and "C is for Cookie" from Sesame St- all the while yelling @ me, "No, Mama! Not THAT song!" whenever we try to slip in something new.:e :k
