Today on Dr Phil (11-18-02)

they asked parents certains questions. Like is your kid the angel you think he or she is all the time.

Would they touch a gun?

How easy could a predator take them?

I mean im not even a parent(yet) and it scared me cause i though of my Nephew and Niece who i am very close to.

The gun senerio. they had a group of like 24 kids and they told them not to touch the gun. Girls ignored the gun with now problem they just played with the dolls. while the boys picked up, finger on the trigger and looked into the barrel. Even after Dr Phil talked to them how guns can kill, the boys still played with it.

It was a good show. and i hope most parents saw it... it really made me think about when i have kids.

I saw the part where they had a group of kids that were easily lured into the producers car...THAT was scary. All of those kids had been told not to talk to strangers, and out of 10 kids only two didn't go with him.
I missed the rest of it (had dr.appointment).

Well, I don't watch Dr. Phil b/c I'm always at school... None the less I will answer.

No matter what I would like to believe, I KNOW if my son were able to access a gun, he would more than likely try to play with it... What's more scary is that he is 3 years old. That's why I don't like him at his father's because I'm scared that I'll get a phone call saying to meet him at the hospital because Noah got hold of his gun. Scares the daylights outta me. And there's not much I can do about that end of the spectrum which makes it all the worse.

the predator thing, I really don't know. My son is somewhat timid but after a little bit he does warm up to people. All I can do is teach him to trust his intuitions because you can't shelter children all your life. As of right now though, whenever I go somewhere and I have my son with me, he is ALWAYS by my side. I try never ever ever to keep him out of my sight. Maybe because I'm protective but I like to know what he is doing and who is around him. Stuff like this just scares me.

I don't think either one of mine would touch a gun. My nephew once left one of the bed (in the room they were staying in) at their Nana's and they came in and told me. I immediately tore into him about gun safety and pissed all the rednecks off
As for the prediator...we have one lurking about here. He tried to lure kids with the lost pet trick over the summer and then again two weeks ago.
I worry sometimes that I have overdone it with the "don't take rides" issue. My youngest (9) won't even take a ride with her teacher during the worst of weather conditions.
