My parents don't even listen to their own music--just the radio. It used to be country (and on Sundays it was *really old* Marty Robbins style country), but since moving to Oregon they've switched to an oldies station. I take a CD wallet with me whenever I visit.

Your mom likes Marley? She rocks! I love the man!
Diva, the reason my Dad's collection is so small is because he's always listening to some AM oldies station. I understand and feel for you. :e

My mom = oldies and classic rock
She has a particular affinity for Fleetwood Mac, the Carpenters, Tina Turner, Mamas and Papas, The Doors, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, and the Supremes. I do enjoy many of these artists as well.
My dad = anything country (gah!)
I don't like country. At all.

Both listen to Christian music...and not even decent Christian music like Handel's Messiah or something. No, crappy modern Christian music like Michael Card and shite like that.

My parents listen to a lot of country like Johnny Cash and Conway Twitty. Dad likes sappy sentimental ballads a la Elton John as well. My mother enjoys local music which basically sounds like country music, except the singers are more nasal and annoying...
I don't like my parents taste in music, and they don't often like mine, either. Mom, however, surprised the crap out of me when she bought the LE CD. She said since my sis and I moved out she missed hearing it.

My father listens to reggae, calypso, soca, and a LOT of gospel. And jazz. And occasionally, he'll put on some Joe Satriani or Jeff Beck or Johnny Lang.

My dad mostly listens to classic rock. Um, I guess his favorite band is probably Steely Dan. Rather cool, if you ask me. He also seems to think that he owns my Pearl Jam Ten CD. Over all I'd say his tastes are decent.
My mom listens to quite a variety of stuff terrible stuff and a few decent things. She likes oldies and some classic rock. She loves Celine Dion. She listens to quite a lot of modern country stuff. She also listens to the Dave Matthews band and a few other half decent current rock bands. She has a tendency to listen to "alternative" radio and claims she loves Godsmack and some various other annoying hard rock bands.
And just to clarify, my parents are in their 50's.
