Fox has YET AGAIN cancelled a fantastic Science-Fiction show, namely the fledgling Firefly

Fortunately, people have already started a campaign to save the show, perhaps the most original and entertaining SF since Babylon 5!

YOUR support is needed! Simply follow the link below!

In honour of posting the exact same thread in the SF forum, I present my exact same reply:

I actually know people who work in media analysis; this is their evaluation of Firefly's cancellation:

The reason the show lacks public support is entirely due to the fact that Fox sticks the show on Fridays, at nine.

Most people in the target demographic for science fiction are actually not at home Friday nights at nine, so there's nobody watching.

Given that the television networks treat TV shows as commercial delivery systems instead of as public entertainment, it is no small wonder the show is getting the axe. If they put the show on Sunday nights, instead of showing Malcom In The Middle repeats, or mid-week, the show would do much better.

I wish these people would start living in the 21st Century. I tape everything I want to watch in advance & view it later. As long as there aren't more than four things I want to see all airing at once, my VCRs can handle it.

O Yeah! I zip through the commercials. I'm sure the advertizers HATE that. (Did you think that I spend all this time online without watching TV & movies simultaneously?) BUT heck! I would pay as much as I do for Showtime, to have a channel that provided nothing but Sci-Fi/Fantasy programs & movies WITHOUT commercials. This IS the 21st Century, you know...

Firefly : What I like about it, is that it is very much like a Western set in a future Sci-Fi world. When I was a kid, I always watched the Westerns on TV, although I was reading Science Fiction. Firefly gives me both, and that is rather unique.

Tim (Minear) and Joss are still campaigning to get Firefly picked up by another network. We can still dream!

And don't forget to watch the 2 hour pilot (previously unaired) this Friday!
