Actually I have some fuzzy pink that looks sort of like that -- I think it's thinner, though, and I'm not sure what it's made of, since it came to me without labels. I've never used it. :p Probably never will...pink just isn't my color.

I'm excited about making my sister a sweater (once mine is finished), just because it gives me a good excuse to go shopping for yarn. How pathetic is that? [post22] It's just too much fun!

i need to stop buying yarn, too. haha!

i had a grand time on the lionbrand website, looking at different colours of wool-ease and homespun. i ended up buying four skeins of fucshia wool-ease (yes, fucshia) and two skeins of teal wool-ease thick & quick. i'm so punk.

hey MandarynLemon, since pink is one of my colours, i want to know what gauge your fuzzy pink yarn is.

I just hit AC Moore yesterday because they were having a sale on eyelash and novelty yarns - I got a ton of Bernat Boa and Boucle and am already hatching plans. (2 skeins for $5! The sale goes until Wednesday!)

I'm going to go *to* Patternworks this summer - I got their catalog and it's like porn. I have to resist buying anything from them for now - I'm already developing a stash and have 2 projects to finish and 2 more planned and...oh and a local yarn store is having a trunk show/20% off all yarn sale in 2 weeks...eek.

I went back to AC Moore today. I do live near some fantastic shops with nice wool and silk yarn - including a little store where she spins her own stuff - but I can't afford much of it right now (though I have been bad with that too...) :) I am currently in this fuzzy/eyelashy phase so I bought a bunch of Patons Allure to make either scarves, hats or maybe one multicolored shawl as presents. And then they had 50% off coupons so I got a big skein of Fisherman's Wool for $3 to practice dyeing/felting with (I don't know if the local laundromat's washers will felt so I didn't want to practice with pricey stuff ;) although i'm also eyeing a wool sweater at the Goodwill that I hope sticks around until it's 1/2 price so I can rip it, dye it and felt it.) and then my husband used one of the coupons and I got a pretty skein of Homespun.

So I am now NOT ALLOWED to buy any more yarn until I use some of what I have - except for that sale next month, when I may allow myself to get some stuff... ;) (There's some things I have in mind) and of course when we go to Patternworks I may not be able to resist...hee.

hey MandarynLemon, since pink is one of my colours, i want to know what gauge your fuzzy pink yarn is.

Hey... :) I knitted up a bitsy little swatch and it was about 5.5-6 st/in, 6.5-7 rows/in on size 5 needles. I attached a picture. I have six balls of it, and together they weigh just under 7 oz. (although I think they're wrapped around little bits of newspaper or something in the center, so not quite all of that is yarn weight.)

Oh, and I think it's wool or wool blend.

Hm. Well, I realized it was really nice to knit with as I made that swatch, but I know I won't take the time to dye it a color I prefer (and even if I did, it might not turn out)...SO if one of you wants it....let me know and I'm sure we can reach an agreement. :)

Okay, speaking of obsessively buying yarn. Here's what I did yesterday evening.

A friend of mine had seen an ad in the paper last week for some quilting supplies and "yarn .50/skein." The ad ran again this week, so she asked me if she should call the number in the ad. She did, and we went to this woman's apartment to check it out. The place turned out to be a retirement home, and the woman selling the yarn was 93. (she didn't look it). She said she'd only gotten one call the previous week and we were the first call this week.

Anyway, it was all acrylic yarn, most of it worsted weight. There were some really nice colors that I suppose are "out of date." I got about a skeins-worth of a really pretty coral, and one of a nice darkish teal. The very best finds were a skein and a huge ball that must be 2 skeins of variegated yellow and white fuzzy yarn (called "lemons" and the label says "soft as bright happy dreams/in delightful color schemes") and 7 skeins of soft (but not fuzzy) lilac. I ended up with 52 skeins total. "Wow. Oops, I just doubled my stash," says I. I went home and tried to figure out where to put it all. I ended up using a plastic tub that has previously had clothes in it. I filled it. Along with the two small boxes that held my stash before. Now I just wonder what on earth I'm going to do with so much yarn. :p

I bought a bunch of yarn from www.smileysyarns.com recently. Since they have a $30 min. order, I was going to split the order with my Mom, but on impulse I decided to do it myself. ;)

I got a few skeins each of Homespun ("Aquarium" and "Mardi Gras"), Thick & Quick Chenille ("Russet"), Chenille Sensations ("Milan print"), Patons Cha-Cha ("Jazz"), and Grignasco Mexico, which is a lovely off-white and has a satiny finish. Plus a package of yarn bobs. I really bought more than I should've and definitely more than I need right now, but I couldn't help it, I was swayed by the price. "I can't afford NOT to buy this!" I told myself. Plus, I already have plans for most of it. First, a cute little handbag made out of the Grignasco using a modified pattern (I'm basically making granny squares, slightly smaller scale, and putting them together. It looks awesome so far.).

Meanwhile, my husband thinks I'm a crazy person and rolls his eyes at the boxes of yarn that are slowly but surely filling the house. :D

That's my boyfriend's reaction, too. :p

Oh dear. I told my sister I'd make her a sweater for her birthday, so today we went shopping for her yarn. She picked a color I wasn't expecting, so I didn't get to get the pretty purple. I almost bought a skein of it anyway, but I restrained myself. :p But the problem is that I *did* buy several skeins of Wool-ease for a surprise present for a friend, and a skein of coral homespun and one of coral microspun. It seems strange since coral is kind of close to pink, but the orange-y-ness of it makes me drool. It looks literally yummy.

So I went to the 20% off sale but I was semi-well-behaved.

I got cotton to make the Pussycat Bath Mitt in Kid's Knitting (I already had cotton, but this is a closer match to what the pattern requires.)
I got 5 skeins of Lamb's Pride in 2 colors to make MeeMaw's Felted Purse in Stitch n Bitch *OR* the Booga Bag - depending on the yardage the Booga needs.
and I got 1 skein of Magic Stripes sock yarn for my first pair of socks, when I finally get to them.

I have a yarn room that is devoted to my yarn. It consists of 7 bookcases of 5 shelves each. I also have about 1o containers of yarn in the basement . I can't seem to pass it up, whether it's on sale or not . Everything I make is given away. I know it's a sickness but who cares!!!! Sharona

WOW. I wish I had that much space for yarn, but my bookcases are mostly full of books. ;)

Welcome to the forums! :D

I have half a room dedicated to yarn. The first thing I look for everywhere I go is the nearest yarn store. If you like Smileysyarn on line, you'd love the store in Queens. I went there, came out with 3 trash bags full. I had to get someone to take it home for me (too much for the plane).
