Natalie said something about getting depressed when she was making her last album as she was trying to be like PJ Harvey, trying to create an album like 'Stories...' , and realizing she could never be as good.. ultimately deciding she should just try and make the best album she was capable of without trying to compare herself to anyone else in the process.
something like that.

Marilyn Manson said he wanted to do a duet with PJ, he also draws pictures of himself shagging her. ;m
Yeah Natalie Imbruglia said she was listening to way too much PJ Harvey when trying to do her album and she was depressed as she could never be that good.

Gwenyth Paltrow is the famous actress who loves Polly Harvey! She suggested "Good Fortune" be played in Shallow Hal as she says it's her favorite song to party too or something like that.
Sophie Ellis Bextor is also a fan. She said that her dream would be to do a duet with PJ Harvey and Bjork, and she says she loves PJ's music so much that she'd never do anything similar cos it's PJ's territory.
Adilita from Magic Dirt lists PJ Harvey as one of her favorite artists.
Flea from RHCP says he would give anything to play with PJ Harvey on stage.
The chick from GILMORE GIRLS (what's her name in real life) well anyway, she's a PJ fan and she talked about her in one episode.

Beth Gibbons
Are you sure about this ?
I'm asking this because I can recall in a very early interview,Beth said she didn't really feel the 'same' as her or something. But that was around mid 90's, so she might've changed from opinion.
It's safe to assume Will Oldham's a fan of her too, since he covered a song of her's.
And there was this site with a list of people that influenced Tom Waits and I THINK PJ was on it, but I'm not sure.

Duncan Sheik - I was chatting with him and mentioned PJ Harvey and he mentioned how much he adores Stories :)
Karen O said in the women who rock issue of Rolling Stone: "On this last tour we did in Europe, I got to meet and play alongside Bjork and PJ Harvey, and I couldn't talk to either one of them, I was so itimidated. I become such a dork when it comes to women I admire. After seeing the power of their shows. I'm left kind of speechless and feeling shitty about what I do. I'm humbled."
and I heard she dedicated Maps to PJ when they were playing at the same festival.

Oh, wow... thanks for posting that! I have a similar reaction around certain 'famous' rockers, more the women ones... and I thought that it just meant that I am just ridiculously insecure. Its just human... or a type of human. [post100]

well Siouxsie was asked in an online chat back in the anima animus days what her favourites were from the younger generation of musicians and she only named PJ.
then there's also this bit from an FAQ:
http://www.thebansheesandothercreatures.co.uk/siouxsiefaq.htm
6. You have now committed to vinyl duets with yourself and Morrisey, yourself and Marc Almond, are there any burning ambitions to work with any other singers? I would love to hear the combination of your voice and another female vocalist. (Petah)
For various reasons, way too bitchy to mention, it’s not something I’m gagging to do at the moment. I did toy with the idea of approaching PJ Harvey or Johnny Cash ( ‘A Boy Named Sioux’?) to record ‘Murdering Mouth’ with. ( at some point in the future a studio recording of this song is a must) For the time being I’ve put it on the back burner and am concentrating only on new material. The sound of another voice that compliments is not that easy to find, but when it works, it’s fabulous. Who knows what will turn up?
as for Budgie, someone on the creatures forum once asked him if he liked sinead o connor and he replied that he much preferred "the words and music of miss polly jean" and brought up how much he liked Is This Desire? ...that's about all i remember, it's fairly recent, i wish i could find the post.
and Steven Severin had PJ listed on his old FAQ as one of his likes.

Coincidentally, an excerpt from the concert review Amnesiac linked to over in the 'Good Fortune' thread:
The Queen Of Darkness looks pale and withdrawn tonight. Huddled in shadow by the stage front, she nervously sips her beer, scanning the hall for fear of recognition.
That'll be Beth Gibbons of Portishead, then, come to pay homage to Dorset's original punk princess of heart-skewering psycho-blues. Except the Polly Harvey who strides out for this secret hometown showcase is no skeletal shrinking violet, no prickly parody of female beauty ideals, but a strapping rock'n'roll Amazon in spangled miniskirt, spike-heeled leather boots and Justine Frischmann |berfringe.
....EDIT....
And by the time Poll romps home with 'Down By The Water', Beth from Portishead is screaming for more, waving her beer bottle aloft and dancing the lambada. Is it just spooky coincidence that the final four words on Portishead's last album were, "This mess we're in"? Hmmm. Never mind that for now. Because if born-again supervixen Polly can rock the Queen Of Darkness to her feet, imagine what she'll do for the rest of us.
