The journal was finished and I went to the doc on Monday...and I was put on a 2000 calorie diet until I can get some blood work done on me. She hasn't ruled out anything, but I'm really watching what's going into my body now.

It isn't that bad yet, but with all diets, I know I'm gonna go nuts sooner or later.

Rath_Dawg: No Pepsi and no ribs make Rath_Dawg something something. Go crazy? Don't mind if I do. *makes crazy sounds*

ah well, on the other hand, if you make good food choices, 2,000 calories can be a *reasonable* amount of food. Not a ton, but enough. Good luck!

2000 is less than I'm used to, but then again I ate crap according to the doc. The stuff I thought was low enough wasn't even close, but since everyone in the house is going to use the diet, I won't really have the chance to cheat myself.

The ultimate test came when we went to a buffet...and I managed to keep it to stuff that wouldn't be what I ate before this. My body is already giving me the finger because I'm depriving it. lordy.

Rath_Dawg: Even if I have to slap my own arm down when it reaches for the old food, I will stick to this. Need to lose some weight. Thanks for the well wishes Rebecca.

well, you can do it. Your body may not like it, but it's also what it needs.. and quickly enough it will adjust. It's your brain that's going to cause the most trouble.. stay focused on where you're going and WHY you're doing what you're doing.

I know my body may not like my diet...knew it going into it, but my knees have been going a bit, and I'm tired of looking like I do. Those two things should keep my mind in line when I see something I shouldn't eat.

Rath_Dawg: Now I'm just tired after a couple days into it...doing the same amount of walking I did before, but with less calories to power my body. It'll pass though.

Rath Dawg, I think 2000 calories should be enough to power your body unless you are doing strenuous exercise like running 5+ miles a day. It is difficult at first because you are used to much more, but you will be surprised at how quickly your body adapts to a change in routine. You are actually lucky to be overweight, at this point, because your body is going to help you to lose weight faster. It gets a lot harder where I am, at about 30 pounds overweight, when my body is fighting to retain every little bit of fat. Good luck to you and keep up the good work. ~Chris

Where are you?

I'm here...I've just been a bit busy for the last month or so with work and plotting a course for me to walk and not kill me doing it. I extended it a bit after the forced march my friend put me through, I know I can put myself through a bit more than I thought.

I think I'm back to my old half an hour per mile walking speed.

Rath_Dawg: I can't run because my lungs give me the finger. I'm losing the weight without losing the poundage...just from the gut right now.

Welcome back. The main thing, with exercise, is to keep doing it every time, no matter how little you can do at first. You will be amazed at how fast you progress. It also helps me to write it down: a permanent record of my efforts. I like to use a calendar that shows the entire month at once, and special colored pens (different colors for exercise, weight, events, goals, etc.) Good luck!

I find that writing stuff down just does something to my head when I'm plotting things. It's just better if I just do my own thing with walking...it's the only thing I can do, so there's really no need to write it down. *shrugs*

I have to lose 150 at the most...so I'm at least to my ideal weight for my height. I know I'll never be thin, but I'm going to be as thin as I can get.

Rath_Dawg: My walking path I plotted is about 3 miles long...which will do just nice for me.
