I was talking with Julie today about the girlie box in Glamour Puss and came up with an idea. How about either a yarn box or a scarf trade. I know most of us knit, but there are also a few crotchers so I think that this would be great to do. The weather is starting to cool off in most places(curses florida)so scarf weather is coming. Since we have some ladies in here just learning it would be a great way to either get some yarn to practice on or practice on their craft. Crotched and knitted goodies welcomed.

What do you think. If you are intersted you can email me at mymommaaintnoho@msn.com or Pm me. I think this would be grand. And the shipping wouldnt be too bad since it would be a light package.

Craft on.

edit: I was also thinking about a pattern trade too. Either photocopy the patterns and send them with the yarn or the actual pattern. But I think photocopies would be better. I know that I have tons of lovely patterns and tons of great baby knits.

I hadnt thought of that, haha. Well lets see how many of us have a good stash and maybe we can start it off and you guys can help it along later. I wouldnt mind donating some of my stash to get it started.

Either that or we could start it with a pattern switch, till you guys get more established with yarn.

I think a gift exchange would be nice too

I don't have much yarn either, unfortunately.

But I would LOVE to do a scarf trade! I can never have too many of them (hey I do live in Canada!). :p

I'm currently doing a Secret Pal thing on another knitting forum. That's also lots of fun! :)

i say we do a gift trade. knit whatever you want. i think like a secret santa type thing. it would have to cost less than a certain amount and such. you all can give me hte names and i can shuffle them up and match up. what you think

I could do a yarn box/trade - I have some yarn I probably won't ever use and some other half-balls and such that I would be willing to part with (mostly acrylic, but I have some wool/wool blends too...) I am a really slow knitter (in terms of finishing something, not in terms of my stitching ;) ) so me making someone a present would mean they'd have to wait a few years for it...heh.

Anyway, I think it's a good idea. If someone wanted to trade me a knitted item for some yarn, that could work too ;)

I think that would work Antigone. Between you and I, I think we could come up with a nice little box. I think that we could start a box with yarn, old needles, and gifts. You put one thing in, and take one thing out. If you dont have enough yarn to put in, make a gift to toss into the box. I think it would work.

Any one who is intersted please pm me with your contact info and I'll get the list started.

I don't really have a lot of spare yarn/equipment/whatever. I have some stuff I could part with, and I do have some half skeins that would be nice for smaller projects or trim. And I have all kinds of hats, scarves, small bags, etc. lying around. I'll go through my stash. :D

You know, we should do a small gift exchange for the holidays, too. I'd love to swap with you guys. :)

thats great. it doesnt take much. half skeins are great for scarves and mittens and hats. Great for trim too like you said. I think it would be wonderful to get this started. Nice holiday treat for us.
