Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this group, but wanted to join a group with other parents. Now I have a 12 month old daughter and she is getting like 6 teeth all at once. She got 2 teeth at 4 months and then 6 teeth at 6 months. Last night and a good part of today she has had a fever. I don't know how high it is cuz I don't have a thermometor. I know a lot of doctors say that children don't get fevers with teething and it is a sign of something else, but there is nothing else wrong with her and no other symptoms. The only thing is, is that she is getting 6 teeth...Has anyone else here had a baby that got a lot of teeth all at once?
Just looking for some helpful hints. She is not really cranky but wakes up a lot and just this fever that's all.
Thanks in advance, Kim
If you're worried about this, take her to a pediatrician and have her looked at. My daughter didn't get handsful of teeth at once, but when her teeth erupted, she always ran a mild temperature. Not only that, but whenever she has a bit of a growth spurt, her body temperature elevates.
That's just been her experience, though. :)

hi kim, welcome to the parents pad.
medical professionals will always tell you that fever is not a part of teething.
my first suggestion is to get a thermometer, though. you really do need one from now on. fevers can be very dangerous if they get too high, and you need to know how high it is.
also, most peds have a number to call for advice. if not, i would definitely call first thing in the morning and get a thermometer today.
my son had four teeth come in at once, then two straight after that. he had a fever during it and when i called the nurse, she again said fever is not a part of teething (older generations will usually say otherwise). i didn't take him in because it never wen't over 101 degrees F, and it went away quickly as it came. please do get a thermometer, though.l ;)

also, my sympathies for the all-at-once teething.
i KNOW how rough that is on everyone. :(

They say that a fever isn't a normal part of teething, but seriously, at least 90% of the parents I know said their kids ran a low-grade fever. My daughter did. You can give them a dose of Tylenol or whatever- that will help with the pain and knock the fever back. You really should have a thermometer, though (you can find them cheap at dollar stores), so you can be sure that the Tylenol is taking care of it. My daughter also got very sinus-y when she was cutting teeth, so things like Orajel only took care of part of the problem. If you try something like that and she still seems uncomfortable, she may have some sinus pressure.
Best of luck to you, I remember how stressful that can be.

My daughter runs a fever and has cold like symptoms every time she cuts a tooth...

When my son was cutting 4 teeth at once, he did run a low grade fever. What I've come across is that ask 5 different doctors about fevers while teething, and you'll get 5 different answers.
