View Full Version : What Camera(s) Do You Use?
My wife and I both use a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5 (film camera), and we are waiting with baited breath for the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (DSLR - digital) so we can interchange lenses. Plus, we really like Minolta and think they are one of the more professional brands.
What camera do you use?
I currently use a Canon D30. It's a digital SLR, 3 megapixel. It's been a fantastic camera to learn on. I'm currently saving up for a new camera body. I'm looking into the 20D. I briefly thought about the 10D, but it's not that much cheaper than the 20D so I might as well go the extra 2 mp and faster/lighter camera.
I also have an Olympus C-2500L digital. She doesn't get used much anymore.. Most snapshot photos, or macro shots(I have yet to aquire a macro lens for the Canon). Also in the family is a Nikon N50 film camera. It hasn't been used in almost 4 years.
There's a friend at LJ who is a very good photographer and he just bought the 20D, and he swears by it. I've heard a lot of excellent talk about the 20D.
I'm gonna create one more topic...more of an info/link topic.

I use a cheapo beginner Vivitar (I've had it for 4 years and I don't even know the model --I am dead inside). I've grown accustom to it to the point that I know its weaknesses and strengths and can accomodate all of them. I can't part with it anytime soon. I always say I'm going to upgrade, but I'm so stuck on it that I feel like I'd be a traitor. It's served me well.

Bigger doesn't always mean better, anyway ;)
I've taken some pretty suprisingly decent shots on disposable cameras a long time ago!
I have a Canon Digital Elph S400. It's super cute and it's complicated enough for me. It takes very good photos in Auto Mode, but I still have yet to master whatever Manual settings it has.

Canon ae-1 program, vivitar SLR (don't know the model #), Hasselblad (yay for medium format!) and a canon a80 powershot digital.
I also have a Holga (cheap medium format camera) which I'm still playing with, and I love the photos it creates.
Zara> how do you find the costs are with your Med. format and Holga? I've been interested in picking up an old Mamiya(i think that is the spelling) or even just a toy cam like the HOlga.. but cost is a major factor for me as funds are limited.

at the moment, i have a point & shoot HP Photosmart 720 for digital. as i'm a film hold-out, it suits my digital needs well for now. i am saving for a digital Rebel though, as i would like to do more in the way of digital manipulation.
for film, i have an old Minolta Maxxum 3xi (w/ Minolta 260AF flash, 28mm, 50mm, 80-200mm, and Phoenix 70-300mm), and a new Canon Rebel K2 (w/ Canon EOS 28-90mm, Tamron 70-300mm, and Canon Speedlite 420EX). i also have a little Samsung 35-80mm point & shoot that is great in a pinch. when i do candids for some weddings, i'll send it around with someone else, just for fun. i'm looking into buying a used medium format from the pro in my studio as well, but developing is more expensive, and i don't have a ton of time to do my own right now.

I've only got a small Canon A75 at the moment. It's nothing fantastic, but it certainly does the job. I've gotten some really great photos with it (As well as some really BAD photos with it!), and really, I'm quite fond of it. I'd really like to put out more money for a better camera before I go to New Zealand, but at the moment I just don't have that money!

David also forgot to say we're going to be getting a retro-style medium format camera in February: Seagul Twin Lens (http://www.calumetphoto.com/ctl?PAGE=Controller&ac.ui.pn=cat.CatItemDetail&ac.item.itemNo=AA0124&ac.cat.CatTree.detail=y&type=PRDINDEX) It's dirt cheap and I don't expect much from it, but *how cool is that!* :p I can't wait to get it and play around with it. Ever since I first saw one I've secretly wanted one!
Sorry about that, hon, I keep forgetting about it. If people see you or me shooting with it they're going to think it's worth thousands and thousands of dollars (not unlike the DSLR we're going to get ;) ) It just looks so olde :p

I've got a Kodak Easyshare 3500 with 2 megapixels, yes, it's old and somewhat antiquated, but I adore it.
I also have a pentax 35mm point and shoot. For as much as I love my digicam, there is a weird kind of excitement about dropping your film off and seeing what comes out.
I also carry along a disposable camera in my purse, for those random photo moments.

i've got a canon powershot A70, 3.2 megapixals.
i [post28] my digicam. it's taken wonderful photographs.
i'm saving up for a bigger lens.
any suggestions?
Bigger as in more mm's or a wider angle of view? I suppose this all depends on the kinds of pictures that you want to take.

What do you have now, and what kind of things do you want to do that you can't with what you have? :)

I use a Canon Rebel X (35mm), usually with a 50mm f/1.8 lens (for all those low-light concerts)... My grandma just gave me a few more... One is an Argus (that will be fun, shooting with a rangefinder!) and the other and old Canon, but I'm not sure of the model. I shot with my mom's Canon A-1 for awhile, and this is failry similar, so I shouldn't do too badly using it around... ahhh!
