So yeah...that's what we're on the verge of here in my world. I've been trying to wean Xavier off the bottle but haven't been very successful. He normally will get 3 bottles a day, one before breakfast, one mid afternoon (naptime) and one at bedtime. I can usually get him to forget about his midafternoon bottle, but he just won't let go of the morning and bedtime ones. I've tried giving him milk in a cup at breakfast, but he just won't drink it unless it's in a bottle.

How did you wean your kids from the bottle? Did they kind of wean themselves? help! :)

And when did you switch from a crib to a bed? I don't really want to yet, because he rolls all over that crib all night, and *I'D* be afraid he'd fall off the bed. I don't really want to move him until he shows us he's trying to climb out of the crib. My husband wants to do it sooner though. We have a futon in his room that I use for our bedtime routine, that he thinks we can use for his bed. It is low to the ground, but I don't know how comfortable it would be, or if bedrails would fit on it.

He's growing up too fast!! *laugh*

I wouldn't think he's ready to be out of his crib yet... Kaiya's 2 1/2 and still sleeps in hers. My oldest son was also 2 before we put him in his own bed. Is Xavier able to get onto and off of the futon by himself?

see I don't think he's ready yet for a big bed yet either. Mainly because he is constantly moving around his crib all night.

He can get up and down from the futon easily. That's where he goes when he wants to be alone to look at books or play with a special toy.

I'd put it off until he is trying to climb out. No sense in causing yourself more work unnecessarily. ;)

Agree with this! We moved my son to the big bed when he turned 3 in August. He was climbing out and into the crib so we decided it was time. If you can put it off PUT IT OFF. It has been what 2 months and he still gets up every night since it is so easy. "Mommy, I NEED something". ARGH... :D
