.....i'm not totally sure, i've read that tori really likes the singer's voice or something. they have interesting song titles.
Cocteau is very interesting. Ethereal...dreamy....can't understand a fucking word Liz sings ;) Seriously tho...she sings high and with a lot of vibrato and trills. She also did a guest appearance on Massive Attack's album Mezzanine...on the track "Teardrop".
Anyway, if you run a search I'm sure you can find some places with sound samples. I like them myself.

The Cocteau Twins are one of my favourite bands. Liz Fraser has the best voice. I like her voice even more than Tori's. (Myth is right though, you can hardly understand a word she says.) Very shoegazerish, um....Liz made up her own language for some of the albums, so that's why it's hard to understand. CT's earlier stuff is hard to grasp, but two of my favourites are Heaven or Las Vegas and Four Calendar Cafe.

Check it out if you haven't already - they have very unique voices...but I could see myself getting a bit tired of an entire album.

i love the cocteau twins. liz frasier has hands down the greatest voice ever. liz uses her voice like an instrument, not comforming to particular words, but choosing sounds that fit well with the music. some albums are more intelligilbe than others. heaven on las vegas is a good place to start. hope you enjoy them.

The Cocteau Twins are easily one of my favourite bands, and I feel one of the most relevant bands of the 80's perhaps. I started with "heaven or las vegas" but "Treasure" is much more rewarding for me. I'm unsure of how to describe their sound without throwing legions of praise at Liz' voice, but their music very much puts me in a place of happiness, comfort and wonder. Btw, there's only one singer in CT (Liz) but it often sounds with how dynamic her voice is that there's two.
"Victorialand" is one heavenly album to me, "Treasure" and "Blue Bell Knoll" are also great. I know the Cocteau's hate one of these two last albums, but I'm not sure which one. For me, the "Stars And Topsoil" collection was a nice place to start.
great songs
Seekers Who Are Lovers
Lazy Calm
The Thinner The Air
Sugar Hiccup
Ivo
Frou Frou Foxes In Midsummer Fires
They're brilliant.
In addition to Heaven or Las Vegas, Treasure and Blue Bell Knoll, please check out Milk and Kisses. It's a killer album.
