I am having actual contractions, although not far enough together and intense enough to go something about it.

I was told that this means it could be one night to two weeks.

Watch me be in first stage of labor for 4 weeks.

My contractions(im having one as i type this. yeah, this is fun! grr)have been as followed

so on and so forth. They are hurting, but not omg kill me please yet. But these are not my braxton hicks. Ohh no they arent.

Hi Kristen. That is what happened to me when I started labor. I was having mostly painless contractions at pretty regular intervals for about 14 hours when I went in. They sent me home, and told me the same thing, 1 day to 2 weeks. I was really upset cause I thought that that was IT, you know? I was dilated to a 2. I was so upset my the contractions completely stopped for about 8 hours... and then all of a sudden OW! I thought it was a constipations pain, but turned out it was contractions, painful ones! I went in a 11pm the same day they sent me home, and my baby was born at 6:48am the next day.

I just wanted to tell you this in case you were feeling discouraged or upset like I was at the idea of waiting when you are SO close. Don't assume it will be two weeks! I knew the doc was wrong when he told me that.. I just felt it. So hopefully things will kick into gear for you soon! Congrats! I hope everything goes smoothly!

the numbers are the minutes that they are apart.

midwife doesnt care how far apart they are, she just wants them regular and at an intesnsity that i cant talk through them. then i should go to the hospital.

i think i got a couple of days. im hoping i do. i need a few more days of work!

That's what happened with my daughter, she was the only one not induced; pretty much a day and a half of early labor before I was admitted, then baby on the morning of day three!

Same thing happened to me. The irregular contractions started the Monday night/early Tuesday morning of the week I was due. Nicholas was born that Friday. I got sent home from the hospital twice while in early labor. I think if my early labor had lasted any longer than it did, I would have MADE them induce me. I also got the same "Could be hours from now, could be next week" thing, but the nurses at the hospital told me that the most they'd ever seen was a few days.

My sister recently had a baby boy (May 30th) and experienced what you are experiencing (I did not - I started feeling contractions at 11:00 p.m., and had my daughter at 9:00 a.m.). She had contractions for about three days, I believe. She was overly excited, and went to the hospital because she was tired of waiting. They induced her. And then the little bugger got stuck!! But yours will not! Yours will slide out!

I really loved early labor contractions.* (I know, weird.)
But it just made me so happy to know that it was almost baby time. :)
I went for a hair cut during early labor, cleaned up the house, got all spruced up and bathed, and even slept for a couple hours. There's a hilarious picture of Neil and myself standing at the door with our cute little hospital bag packed, all smiling and sweet. We were so shiny and happy (yay! we're in labor!)....and blissfully ignorant about what was to come ;l



*We'll not talk about the hard, not so pleasant ones that came at 2am.

Heh. I still remember my first labor contractions. They started at about midnight, and naturally with the pains bothering me I couldn't sleep. I stayed up all night watching Roseanne reruns on Fox and NIN videos on MTV before I finally trekked to the hospital at 5am. :)

I still think that anyone that goes into labor before 40 weeks is lucky (after 37wks, of course). Adrienne was 6 days late. When my water broke, and i was having contractions, I knew it was time, but even as it was happening, I thought she was never going to come out and I would be pregnant forever. and now she's 3 1/2 months old! Good luck Stupid Girl, all will go well.

i leave for my 38 week appointment in 15 minutes. she doesnt like to do internals unless she cannot feel the baby's head position. cause she says , "you got soo much going on down there, why you want my hands up there?"

but i think i might ask her to do one so i can see if i am progressing. her head feels like it is right there, so i want to know if she is dropped down to my knees yet.

Usually, if the contractions haven't progressed you to the point where you're in active labor, no they won't take you in. I got sent home from L&D two times because of being in unproductive early labor. By the second time, when they told me to go home and relax, I immediately started bawling and then got so mad I wanted to rip the nurses head off. I hadn't slept but a couple hours a night since being in early labor and I was worn and ready to have the kid OUT! (Third time in was the charm, didn't leave that time until 3 days later and the kidlet came home the day after)
