contractions werent strong enough and my cervix wasnt dilating.
ohh well, such is pregnant life, baby will come on her own accord.
but, i have had 1 hour sleep last night, because i was up with strong contractions. these are the real deal. let me tell you though, the shit you will say in the middle of these things.
MCI called trying to sell me phone service. i told him i wasnt intersted, but he continued to go on. i told him that i hate it that they call my house 5 times a day and leave stupid messages. he tried to go on so i told him his mother was a whore and to never call my house again, im in labor and i will kill.
Now is the time to call everyone you ever hated!

i think more than anything, the worst is the surge of hormones that plummets after birth. i am soo high feeeling from her, but i just feel lost right now. its hard to explain.

Kristen, I think it's only normal to feel that way after giving birth and not being able to take your baby home. I've seen how hard it is. Spend as much time with her in the hospital as you can, but remember to take some time for yourself too. Make sure you eat and sleep. Don't spend ALL your time there (easier said than done, I know). The nurses know what they are doing. I'm sure things will improve once the baby comes home, but if they don't be sure and ask for help. Pay close attention to your mood over the next couple of weeks.

i need vitamins, STAT!
you know, i know i have a tinge of it. but i think its from the meds right now and her not being here. i talked with my midwife about it, who i cant tell you how much i adore this woman right now, and she said it was normal. and that to keep in touch with her about it, because she went through it four times. she doesnt like automatically giving out pills, but she said that there are other avenues to explore first then if it is really bad she has a magical pill hahaha. but andres is soo supportive with me. poor guy has been scared out of his wits enough. but now, he is the one for me to lean on and cry on.

K, I wanted to make this a dot message, but it's too long.
First of all, congrats. She's BEAUTIFUL! And I'm sorry you had such a hard time, but glad it all resulted in a healthy mommy and daughter.
About that "empty" feeling...it's normal. As much as you want that baby out, once she is, you mourn the end of your pregnancy. It's non-sensical but completely normal. Just take care of yourself, rest and ask for help when you need it. And enjoy every moment of this little girl's infancy because it goes by sooooooooooo fast. It truly IS gold dust.
As for the drugs, you won't need them long, so don't worry. You just had surgery - if you don't take narcotics for that, then narcotics don't need to exist! I spent SIX months on narcotics this year. SIX months solid. If I had withdrawal symptoms after all that time, they were minor and I didn't want to kill anyone's grandmother to go get my next fix. A few days or a week isn't going to put you in any danger of addiction. So don't be in pain, mommy. I had percs for afterbirth pains with my daughter and no surgery was involved. A few days later, I didn't need 'em. If you're nursing, your instincts will tell you not to put anything unhealthy into your body unless you need it. And if you're in too much pain to rest, you need it.

well we just got back from visiting and feeding.
i am a lucky duck. i figured mother nature owed me one thing it was making breastfeeding easy. and it is a piece of cake for us. she prefers the boob to the bottle and feeds like a champ.
they took her fluids away today, she just has her little iv lock in there to give her her medicine. and she isnt hooked up to as many monitors.
its just waiting out the days to finish the meds.
ohh and they found two small murmurs in her heart. but they said many newborns have them. my brother had one and it never closed and he is fine. so i am sure she will be.
im just glad to have a healthy baby girl.

you know funny thing.
she is just like me when i was born.
she will not wake up and feed on a schedule. well not the one they have for her. at the hospital she feeds every three hours. well she likes to feed about every 4-5. the only thing i dont like is that while i was at the hospital they would give her a pacifer to stop her fussing (she would fuss about an hour before some of her feedings) because she was hungry. so that when i got down there to feed her, she was over it and wouldnt wake up to feed. which is fine with me. i say let her sleep and we will work out her feeding schedule. plus i dont like waking her up when she is sleeping. but i did the same thing and i ended up sleeping through the night.
but they all say how that she hardly fusses. she is content and quiet. im soo glad. thats my girl.
not to say that this wont all change and she becomes a hellion hahahahahaha.
How you doing Kristen?
I can't wait for you to bring her home to that gorgeous nursery of yours!

My mom had a similar issue with my little sister. She didn't want to breast feed, and being as it was her second, she had the experiences to go with her reasons. But the hospitals basically force you to try it while you're there and so my mom was like FINE. But the schedule they wanted her on was no good - my sister would be sleepy and not interested in eating. My mom finally said, "Look not every child wants to feed this often. Leave her be. She's hungry, she'll cry."
Trust the mommy instincts and common sense. If she wants to sleep, let her. Believe me, when she's hungry you will KNOW!!!! (Having two half-siblings born two months apart at the age of 13, I was surrounded by babies in my teens......)

I can tell you from experince that everyday will get better- hold that belly when you get in and out of the chair or the couch! Oxycontin is wicked strong! If you can get by with one Percocet or even Tylenol do just that.
I know how difficult it is to be away from your baby after spending so many days in anticipation but, use the time to sleep! You will never have enough of it! And please, wake the baby if she hasn't eaten for over 4-5 hours- blood sugar levels drop low and is dangerous. It also helps prevent jaundice.
Lastly- you look a helluva lot better than I did after having that beautiful baby- take the time to care for yourself!
Congrats again.

i long for a bath.
but unfortunalty until my 6 week check up i am unable to get into a bath.
but i think that i can do a soak. i will ask after i get my staples out tomorrow. i know the salt water would be good to draw out infection and all those nasty things that could get in there.

yeah - it differs for each case. Because really, you wouldn't want to take a saltbath until those staples have been out for a while. Unless you like that sort of pain. ;)

i seriously doubt it could be any worse than them placing that catheter in me without pain meds and inflating that balloon.
thom, seriously, i screetched, then thought about taking that nurse into surgery with me to do a little slice and dice of my own.

At least the anasthesia worked for you. (It didn't for my friend).

my sympathies to her.
i was in labor as they strapped me down to the or table.
poking me with iv's and prepping my belly and all that. and they are like "dont worry everything is fine, just breathe"
i was like " im in bloody labor here people. you are strapping me down and poking me with shit. i cant breath because i am laying flat on my back with a term bbaby crushing my artery!"
but the hospital staff where amazing. i wish everyone had the wonderful nurses i did. they made me feel safe and well cared for. we even joked about tom cruise there.
ohh and i do have to say this.
the second night i was in there playing with my baby in the nursery they were playing music.
the whole shift was a great big ipod of tori. one of the nurses and i were talking about the concert here in april and how i took my daughter to tori in utero. it was kinda cool.

i think i might have even said something about one of my nurses being a felch driven bint.
i said abunch of shit while coming out of sleepy meds. i even called people on the phone.
i swear. i called my best friends mum and was like
"roxanne, i had a baaaaaaaaaaabeeeeeeeeeeeee". higher than a mother fucking kite.
edit- ohh i also called miss sauceboxxxx too. to let her update my lj and tell her i was alright. i have no clue as to what i said to that dear girl. i hope she got some incriminating info.

also, while i think about it.
they should give you an automatic tummy tuck after a c section. you go through major surgery, with staples and drugs and all that crap, expected to take care of a newborn. i say give us a little extra bonus. my used to be pregnant tummy is stuff that dreams are not made of. it is this weird flat flabby mess. i dont look really pregnant anymore, but i dont look skinny. actualy, i look like i have had gastric bypass. you can tell i have lost weight, but i got lots of loose skin around my middle.

Oy, I thought I replied to this last night, but I guess I didn't. I meant to congratulate you! That is one solid baby! You should get the free plastic surgery just for that alone. And then C-Section!
they weighed her last night and she wasnt nearly as big as she was while born.
she was 8lb13oz when born. generally newborns lose weight, a few grams, but she is just over 8 pounds. so they are thinking she really was about 8 pounds and weighed mor3e becuase of all the fluid she had swallowed.
but thanks elisa.

i kinda figured that. when Saucey said 13, i was like, "ok that HAS to set a record." but still... baby + fluid was still carried around by you. nearly 9lbs is still one solid baby, and very commendable. :p
funny thing is that she was measureing a bit small the whole way through. then i gained the only pound in my pregnancy at the last week. i think it went to her.
but i am starting to think i went over and was farther along than we had thought. julie and i are thinking i was two weeks ahead of what i was thought to be. which is what i was thinking. beccause the placenta tearing away is a sign of an old one.
hmm.
but thanks everyone!
