oiy.
its been 12 days since my birth, and although i am not in pain anymore, my inscion feels weird. its in such a weird place that i cant see it. plus i got my staples out and there are strips on it holding it together. it feels like stinging, like when you put antisecptic on a wound. but it isnt red or weeping or anything.
i also recieved two pints of blood, or is it three. i dont know. i am to take my iron pills and my prenatals. but i feel a bit tired and shaky. like i need to eat everything in sight. that kind of feeling.
so, how long did it take you to feel "normal" again? i know this is major surgery, which is weird to think about.
i just want to feel normal again.

Honestly, it took me a good 2-3 months before I felt like myself again. Even now, 2 years down the line my scar will still itch and feel numb sometimes.
It is hard for you to see the incision area. Can you have A look at it and just make sure everything is healing properly? The stinging sounds normal, like it's knitting back together. The strips will fall off on their own once the skin has healed. I ended up getting an infection because one of the strips fell off early in the shower, which led to the incision opening up again.
Take your iron pills and your viatmins. Eat whatever you want, you need to build yourself back up. Don't forget that you are nursing and need just as many calories for that, that you did when you were pregnant. Drink lots of water, and just listen to your body.
And let everyone around you pamper you for a while, while you pamper your little girl. You need it! NO marathon cleaning sessions! :)

Truthfully- with the first C-section it took about a year to feel normal. My incision site was scarred like a keloid and was numb. Once I had the second C- section, the scar was smaller and had feeling. The doctor actually cut on the same line.

i am lucky with my scar in the fact that my doc did it under my public hair line. so when the hair grows back, it will hardly be noticeable.
its weird how it has no feeling. i get kinda like pins and needles type feeling in it.

^i know! it is sooo weird. i hate that it is numb. i hate that i have a weird little roll that i hope will go away. sometimes it itches. has yours felt that pulling type feeling? ugh. i hate looking at it. i hate touching it. i really hate thinking about what really happened the most. babydaddy watched and told me about it and he was all fucking weirded out and disgusted by it. kristen, i feel relatively decent now after 5 weeks. i can sit up in bed without wanting to die. i'm only part time breastfeeding now (long story, i feel bad but it was just unrealistic to do it full time) and i don't want to eat everything anymore. but geez, if youre hungry, shovel the food in. seriously. there's always time to lose weight if you gain it, which you most likely won't. i'm back down to my normal weight now. don't worry hon, you'll feel better really soon. im breastfeeding exclusively, which is hard work!!! but its working out well.
i can sit up with no pain, just have no muscle tone. im feeling alot better. i swear, since i couldnt room in with my baby, i did a ton of walking in the hospital. i was up every two hours to be at that nursery. and when i came home we went up there three times a day.
walking helped me heal so fast. that and getting off those pain pills.
ohh and about the weight thing. i gained 1 pound during my pregnancy, ive lost almost 30.

It took my sister a long time to recover from her c-section, partially because she had her gallbladder removed 6 weeks after delivering her son. She had a lot of pain and pulling sensations with it. I remember it was a good six months before she felt like her old self. Probably not what you want to hear. Kudos on the weight loss, lady! I hope I'll be so lucky!
Now, sorry to hijack your thread, but I saw you write somewhere else that you and Maddie almost didn't make it. Do you mind if I ask what happened? I don't read your livejournal (don't even know where to find it), so I don't know if you already wrote about it there.

my placenta lifted up about 20% sometime. si when the midwife broke my water, it was filled with blood clots and blood. they didnt look old, but didnt look new.
so they rushed me emergecy c section. i had lost soo much blood(blood was everywhere in that room. on the bed, all over me, floor)that i didnt have time for a spinal so they generaled me.
maddie had swallowed an adult sized palm ful of blood and fluid. if i hadnt changed my mind and asked for an epi, cause i knew something was wrong and i wanted her to do something, she would have been really really sick or worse.
i on the other hand lost so much blood i had to have two transfusions
