i am sending a tori necklace i sold on ebay and i put it in a regular white envelope.
i dont know how much it weighs because i am bad at estimating a weight for very light things like this.
when i used paypal to print a shipping label the cheapest was 9.50! :m which is wrong me thinks.
any ideas?
ive shipped letters to the uk before and i gestimated and just put like 4, or 5 US stamps on it so i am hoping that that will be ok.

Can't you just take it to the post office and get them to do it for you? That's what I do, it's much easier.

Indeed. Plus, they'll tell you all the different options and help you figure out which one is the cheapest. Postal employees get a bad rap. They're all extremely helpful when I've gone in.
9.50 sounds alright. i promise. it cost me 60 bucks to send something to the UK through fedex.. (the UPS price was over 100 & i only spent 30 bucks on the gift.)

i cant make it to the post office. i dont have a car so i send everything out from my house. and i am so busy. i am moving to vt at the end of the week and my room is all boxes and crap.

Then I'd go with the label you printed. Don't wanna just take the risk that you used enough stamps and have it returned to you. Especially when you're moving.
Don't forget, stamp prices just went up a couple days ago.
And where in VT?

Pfft. No. I moved this past summer and I think there are still boxes around here I haven't dared open yet.
I'm useless at moving.

ha. yea. my family moved into this house like 9 yrs ago and there is so much useless crap in the basement. it took us a long time to unpack shit. the worst part is that we dont even have dining room furniture yet. what we refer to as the "dining room" is a room with just an old couch and random crap and magazines in it.
oy.
but since i am moving into an apartment i am going to have to somehow unpack everything eventually.
i feel bad for my dad because he is going to assemble all of my IKEA furniture for me. there is so much assembling to do. i would suck at it and give up and cry. ha. i'm nervous but so excited.

there's no way that would cost $9.50. I would probably put 6 or 7 stamps on it.

yea. totally. it is just a small necklace wrapped in a sheet of paper.
i wasnt going to pay 9 bucks for it to ship. like i said ive gestimated before so i think i am going to go with that. i just wanted to make sure.
next to pounds, ounces was the smallest measurement that i could pick. other than the 9.50 the other prices were around 26 dollars! i laughed so hard. yea right.
Before the postal hike one regular letter/card to the UK cost 80 cents. There's a weight limit on that though, and the only way to be sure is to take it to the post office to get it checked out.
Also, depending on the weight you may be required to do a customs declaration. And that's definitely something you have to go to the post office for.

Yeah, I've sent small parcels to the UK before and never spend that much. $5 maybe, but not $9.50.
Can't you ask someone to take it for you if you haven't got a car?
