I've noticed a LOT of people in my town STILL have Christmas wreaths and bows on their house. I've even seen some lights. It's (almost) MARCH, people!
Is it just my town?

But...it's...too...cold.... *shivers*
Just kidding. Took mine down ages ago.
There are people in my neighborhood who not only still have lights up, but still turn them on every night.

We replaced our year-round wreath with a year-round pink flamingos and palm trees hanging.

haha. sounds cute.
if i could get to my christmas lights, taking them down i would. However the cord is buried under about 3 feet of snow, half of which is frozen solid from a hard freezing rain 2 weeks ago. that being said, my christmas lights have not been on since I unplugged them Jan1.

They're all nerkles.
A nerkle is someone who keeps their outdoor Christmas decorations up way past Christmas.
The word "nerkle" is a sniglet introduced by Rich Hall on the 1980's HBO show "Not Necessarily the News." A sniglet is a word that should be in the dictionary, but isn't, according to Hall.
I really hate when you can still see those white lights that hang down like icicles up though spring and summer even if they aren't turned on at night...
TAKE THEM DOWN

nope, your city isn't the only one. there is a house close to mine that has ALL of their decorations up--not only the lights, but the yard angel & three reindeers. it's ridiculous. it was 80 degrees outside today, for crying out loud! that, if anything, should be a signal that decoration removal is WAY past due.

The people in my neighborhood are the same way. It still looks like a Christmas wonderland where I live.
They must be in post-Christmas denial [post04]

My neighbor still has a wreath up. That's not as bad as her rotting pumpkin on her deck, though.

It took me a while to get mine down.
It's just too fucking cold.
I had to change a tire in the driveway last night... I wanted to fucking die. The cement was cold. The tools were cold. Wind was blowing powdery snow in my face and down the neck of my jacket. I started thinking about the lighter in my pocket and how much fuel was left in it. Just in case... Then ways to catch stray cats, if for some chance I couldnt get back in the house and I had to eat them... or make mittens out of their hides. "I bet that black and white one that tore the shit out of my trash can is warm." Then I thought about how much it must have sucked to be shoved in that horse thing that Han Solo stuffed Luke in from "The Empire Strikes Back"... which led me to think about that other movie where the "fut-bol" team crashed their plane in the Andes and they're forced to eat eachother... then I thought about Andes mints and how I havent had one in a long time... "Do they still even make those?" I hate New England winters. My penis must have fallen into some time-warp wormhole or something 'cause when I got back in the house I looked like a toddler.

Shit, I still have the lights around my porch up. That isn't too bad though, they are just normal everyday strand lights... but I do still have the jingle wreath on my door. I forgot about it when I took everything down weeks ago. I'll have to take it down tonight. :(

Yeah, the white lights aren't so bad, they do have more of a general winter feeling, rather than holiday/xmas. even still, i think of March as Springtime, even though it's technically still winter.
I actually LOVE holiday decorations, but it's just kind of depressing and weird to see them now.

My wreath and some blue lights are still up, but we don't turn them on.
I'm sure the very annoying neighborhood association will send me a letter any day now. But since my wreath is purple, I'll just tell them it's for easter!

I passed a house today with a huge wreath hanging from the front side. Like, one of those 10-foot diameter babies. It was grey and brown and practically SCREAMING "HEY! LIGHT ME ON FIRE!"
my christmas lights on my bushes are ALMOST freeee. another week of warm weather and i might be able to get them off -lol-

well i'm in ny for the week and i havent seen any decorations here but in VT where i go to school there are A TON of xmas things still around.
there are a lot of lights in windows and wreaths. some of my friends still have trees in their apartments and lights. i dont mind the lights in my friend's living room. they give off a nice, soft light but the tree makes me giggle.
it felt like xmas for a long time there because of the random snow and winter feel of VT. I moved in Jan. so i wasnt even around for xmas but i constantly felt like the holidays were upon us.
My neighbor put decorations up in November and I believe they would have stayed up all year if she hadn't been evicted.
I'm not sure which brought me more joy - the fact that she got kicked out, or the fact that she had to take her decorations with her when she went.
