Don't mind me...

No shit? I've been lurking also..... but no announcement.

I intend to have an announcement by sometime in the late Fall.

I've found a doctor I like and am off the pill. But we're not really "trying" yet ;)

I've been taking prenatal vitamins for months and months. :)

awesome!

Whatever you do, just skip the book "what to expect while your expecting"

I found it to be too alarming and just plain old fashioned.

A Child is Born is a great book. The pictures are amazing.

I've heard "A Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" is really good...

I have multiple books that I paid 25 cents for.

Ariel Gore's is my favorite, although I don't really read them because I have no need to right now.

Antigone

I don't know how to read :(

Oh, I lurk around in here all the time. I'm also a member of a couple of pregnancy lj communities and frequent a few other web sites. No announcement from me yet, either. But I'm hoping by some time next year. Until then, I love to hear everyone else's stories and see pics.

....and about those vitamins, should I really start taking them now? Recommendations?

Yeah, I definitely would, if you're already trying to concieve or getting ready to. Folic acid is especially important early on :)

I know, god damn me for not going with the norm!!!!!
Seriously, I just found that book to be too alarming. It did have some good information, but I just thought it came off as a bit "pregnancy is medical, you have a condition". I dunno, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Then when I was chatting with my midwife about books, she just said to skip it. I really liked Your Pregnancy week by week a lot. The girlfriends guide was funny, but she was all drug happy (although she did have a vbac).

But truth be told, I didn't read any of those books. I skimmed some and the only one I read cover to cover was the girlfriends guide. I read that one night while trying to poop. I was soo constipated that I needed something to take my mind off trying to shoot out shit pebbles so I sat in there and read for two hours. Worked out quite nicely.

I was in college during my first pregnancy. I read more about being prego than I did about Shakespeare that year. Every day, I just HAD to figure out just HOW much bigger than a grain of rice is this thing now.

I was over it by baby #2. She feels neglected. No pregnancy diary...none of that shit. And fewer pictures. It must suck to be #2.

Edit: Although, #2 got something #1 didn't get. Our very own fetal heartbeat listener thingie!

Can we make this ALL ABOUT *ME* PLEASE?

Also, books schmooks.

Reading is for wusses.

And I have been taking vitamins and charting and reading and EVERYTHING OK? I'll breastfeed and formula feed. I'll tie cloth diapers to disposable ones. I'll give vaccinations and then TAKE THEM AWAY. I'll co-sleep and then I'll sleep IN THE CRIB WITH THE BABY.

ALL ABOUT ME ME ME ME ME.

kthxbi

Don't forget to have an elective c-section AND a natural birth at the same time.

I dunno. my son's baby book is severely lacking in organization and information and I think I'll actually do more this time around. Of course, I went through more to get pregnant this time and I've learned a lot since my son was born.

But hey, this is all about welcoming Antigone and waiting patiently for her to have an announcement.

This was never answered and I'm wondering about it as well.

I have one a day woman's vitamins and I went looking for "Pre-natals" the other day and couldn't find anything. I ended up getting a massive load of folic acid. I got enough to last me well over a year. (They were buy one get one free, so I have 500 pills now.) So, I'm wondering if I got the right thing or if I should start looking for something else.

i've always been told that it doesnt' hurt to start taking the folic acid now if you plan on TTC in the future. prenatals have a higher concentration of minerals and vits so you probalby don't need pre-nats until you have your positive test. the first 2 months of my pregnancy all i took was FA and my regular woman's vit and my dr was cool with that.

My last doctor (who I loved - I only am not seeing her because I moved thousands of miles away) said to start taking prenatal vitamins 3 months before I was going to start trying.

My current doctor said I only needed to take extra folic acid.

I take Trader Joe's prenatal vitamins. They have never made me feel sick. I love them.

I don't know how this thread stopped being about me though. Maybe I should start another one or something...

Pregnancy is the creation of life but I need to go see my Gynecologist because my unpredictable period is being irregular again;m Sometimes I'm contemplating and I pray to [jesus] but it seems like he's not hearing my prayers but in my heart I know he's just trying to figure out the route that he's going to take with this diliemma that I'm having. But yeah I agree with you Labor Pains are 15 times harder than cramps[post59]

Antigone
10-22-2006, 09:51 PM
er...ok...?

Anyway, if one's cycle is irregular, charting will still work juuuust fine.

And my "I hate cramps" was meant to mean "I hate having my period rather than being pregnant." I guess it fell flat.
