I'm posting this everywhere because I am seriously at my wit's end with the poop business.

So we've been doing really great potty wise over here. Xavier's been in bigboy underwear almost exclusively for over a month now. He still wears pull ups at night, and sometimes on the weekends if we know we aren't going to be near a bathroom. He's doing excellent on the pee front, no accidents there at all anymore. At school they are still taking him every hour, but at home on weekends and in the evenings, he can hold it for about 3 hours with no problems at all. I've even stopped taking a spare change of clothes w/ us everywhere. :) He's even stopped sitting on his potty chair, he wants to stand at the big toilet like Daddy and the bigger boys at his daycare. *laugh* (We're working on the aim right now.)

But I have to ask, how do you handle the poop? Xavier has yet to actually poop on the toilet. Every day I'm having to rinse and wash poopy underwear. He's not showing any signs yet of being able to know or control when he needs to poop. I know everyone says it takes longer to master that, but how long? All of his undies are stained now, and it's really rather nasty. I keep buying more just so he can have some clean ones. *laugh* What have you tried to get your kids to poop on the toilet? I'm really at the point right now, where I'm willing to try just about anything.

The thing that worked for my daughter was the social factor. As soon as she was around other little girls who had to go potty, that was the end of that. I think there was ONE accident after the first two or three days. I honestly don't know that there's any reliable way to "hurry" this process along.

That's how he was with the first step. Especially since he's moved up to the three yr old room at school, he sees all the bigger boys going. That's when he decided he'd rather stand, and has been really consistent with peeing.

He's just totally content to sit in messy pants if we'd let him. This morning was the first time he actually told me he'd pooped, we were driving to school and he said "Mommy I smell poop in my pants!" So maybe we are progressing, but it's slow.

I know it probably is more my issue than his, I'd just really like to stop washing poop out of his pants! :g

My God. I can't even remember how we trained ours. I really can't.

Man, I have two toilet trained kids and I don't know how. I'm useless to you!

We made a board and got stickers. There were 5 boxes to fill. I picked out special toy and showed it to him. I told him each time he pooped in the toilet he would get a sticker. Once he got five stickers he would get the toy. He also got to pick out the sticker and put it up on the board. It took awhile but worked in the end.

It also helped him with numbers "see now you have 2 stickers; let's count how many more you need to get the dinosaur" etc.

Oh and of course lots of positive reinforcement when he did go in the toilet.
