next-to-bed snacks? check
Here's the thing about morning sickness. It ain't just the morning folks. It's sick and gross and it happens all day long unless I eat like 7 small meals a day, and even still, it's gross.
So this is the place for remedies, horror stories, anecdotes, anything.
And have I mentioned the boob pain?
just checkin.

Some things I've stumbled across:
Avoid fatty or fried foods.
Make sure you are drinking enough fluids.
Try drinking in between meals rather than with meals.
acupressure wrist bands [never tried it]
1/2 teaspoon of ginger taken four times a day. It can be steeped with hot water for at five minutes to make a hot ginger tea.
the smell of peppermint can help a queasy stomach.
"morning" sickness usually gets better by week 20, or so they say. ;) I had prolonged all day sickness with my daughter, but eating small meals frequently did help. I think the trick was just to not let myself start feeling hungry, because by that point I would start feeling too sick to eat.

I feel your pain. I've been sick for 7 weeks now. Every day, all day, numerous times a day. I can't clean. I can't cook. I can't go grocery shopping. I can do the bare minimum when it comes to taking care of my 20 month old. I've tried all sorts of things and so far NOTHING has given me much relief. My doc is wondering if I have gall bladder trouble since it's so severe and getting worse.
Ugh I remember that well.
With my first I just could not get seem to get on top of it and hurled all day. Dried apricots. Oh lord! *shudders*
With my second it was better but was still horrid.
The crackers by the bed thing did nothing for me.
I remember eating what I craved because I figured at least I was eating and it was more apt to stay down. Some days I lived off of Salt & Vinegar potato chips and lemonade! God the lemonade! I'm surprised my kids didn't come out puckering because that was the shit when I was pregnant!
I, like courey, tried not to let myself get to the point of feeling hungry because if I did it was NO good and I also tried to get more protein than usual.
And get me anywhere near tomato sauce, coffee or eggs and forget it! The smell alone had me running!
I feel for you! That is not pleasant. I was amazed at how quickly it disappeared once I hit that 20 week mark too. Just like that and it was gone.

I used to take Unisom at night before going to bed, which was recommended by my OB, and not only would they allow me a brilliant night of sleep, but I would wake up without the morning sickness. Most importantly, they are completely safe to take while pregnant.

I didn't get morning sickness at all with Nicholas.
And I had it very, very mildly with Benjamin. I threw up maybe 2-3 times from it?

Another thing that's reported to help is vitamins with a higher dose of vitamin D. I had those with my last pregnancy, and they did seem to work.

Are you feeling any better??
I am, somewhat. I still have sick days. I managed to go 6 days with no puking. 6 days out of 18 weeks... whoo hoo.

Oh I've been morning sickness free for a few weeks now and I have to say I feel like a new woman. But Yowza.

Hi all, I'm a newbie here! My partner and me have been trying to get pregnant - well we've only just started, but I have a question, how quickly after conceiving is it possoible to get morning sickness? We only tried this Monday and she has been saying that she feels sick every morning since, maybe its her mind I don't know but it has been suggested that it is possible to feel the effects of morning sickness as soon as one becomes pregnant... Any comments? Thanks!

I certainly didn't feel morning sickness right away, though I did start to feel "different". But morning sickness was a VERY different feeling - it was awful; like being seasick constantly. I didn't start to experience those symptoms until about 7-8 weeks and they started to taper off around week 13-14.

I will echo what Jezebelle said; I've never heard of anyone having symptoms the day after conception.

The times I did feel queasy while pregnant, wasn't until a couple weeks AFTER I found out I was pregnant.
It is her mind because if you only tried this Monday, implantation hasn't occurred yet.

I don't have kids but I totally sympathize. My sister had horrid morning sickness during her last pregnancy. Watching her go through that was awful. You ladies have my total respect. [vibe]

I remember at my 5 week appointment saying "I don't feel anything!" and the midwife basically smiling and saying to be patient. It hit at around 7 weeks. It's amazing what tricks the mind can play when you're trying to conceive though. ;)
was one of the lucky ones and never got morning sickness.
made up for it though by having a viral infection in week 26 and spent the weekend in hospital *L* weee. still i'd have taken that 4 days of misery over 4+ weeks of misery

Tell me about it. The day after we found out I was pregnant with Ben we went to Disneyland. I felt great all through our trip. It was about a week after that that the cruddy feeling started.

With Valerie it hit when I was about 5 weeks. This time it started when I was about 7-8 weeks. Both times it didn't ease up until 18-20 weeks. :g I still have a sick day here and there, but mostly I'm just completely exhausted.

Exhaustion was a killer. I couldn't get enough sleep. I still sleep a lot, actually. I think it's like, my body's final hurrah before the baby comes.
