View Full Version : I have a weird issue

It didn't affect me until I read the new announcement about having to be logged in.

I'm always logged in, when I click on my bookmark for @ I just am. But whenever someone posts a link to another thread on @ and I click on it, I'm not logged in.

If I click on my bookmark again I'm logged in suddenly. It hasn't bothered me because I could still technically read the thread.

Now I don't think I'll be able too.

I used to think this was because of PHP sessions but there is no session variable in the URL, I can't figure out why I'm not logged in if I click on a link to a thread (but somehow I stay logged in when I go to my bookmark.)

What's even weirder is that if I type atforumz.com into my address bar, I'm not logged in!

Somehow my bookmark automatically logs me in (and it's beyond me as to how because it's just my profile page).

Any ideas?

Hmmm...I'm not sure. I have the same issue when on other computers, but not my computer at home.

Do you have cookies blocked?

Basically, you'd need to have a cookie set for both http://www.atforumz.com/ and for http://atforumz.com as your browser will see them separately for some reason. If someone links to a thread without the www from a thread you're viewing with the www in the address, then it's as if you're coming at the site from a different address and your browser won't keep you logged in. Similarly, arriving at the site from the direct IP address.

It's just the way it is - I'm sure there's a wonderful long technical reason behind it, but in short, the three different address you can access the site by will be treated as three different sites each needing you to log in even if you're logged into one of the others.

There may be old links using the IP address. Just for reference, it is 70.85.19.102 (http://70.85.19.102)

^OH! My God you're right! Adding the www keeps me logged in. That makes sense!

I'm not sure if that's a vBulletin issue or a DNS issue. Oh well.

At least I know what it is now, I can always just add www after clicking on a link. Thanks!
