The songs (in order):

Rid Of Me (solo)
The Whores Hustle And The Hustlers Whore
Good Fortune
A Place Called Home
Angelene
Man-Size
This Wicked Tongue
Dry
Sheela-Na-Gig
Big Exit
Horses In My Dreams

The notes:

* Polly was wearing this nice sparkly backless suit... she looked very nice.
* Rid Of Me was very powerful and I thought it got the best respone from the crowd.
* The Whores Hustle... truly proved that PJ has recovered from her illness (at least vocally). She hit those notes in the wails perfectly at the end of the song. A highly charismatic performance.
* A Place Called Home was simple and beautiful.
* After reading some set lists, I didn't expect to hear Angelene at all. It was a nice, percussion-less version.
* Man-Size and This Wicked Tongue *rocked* the foundations.
* Dry was another wonderful yet unexpected song. Great version of it.
* Sheela-Na-Gig was nice and raucous. As was Big Exit.
* Horses In My Dreams was a lush closer... a few lighters here and there.

More notes:

* For some of the backing vocals, the guys in her band sang, but other backing parts were actually PJ's taped vocals. Wasn't she supposed to have a female backing singer for this tour? I thought I read about that somewhere...
* PJ thanked us profusely throughout and make sure to wave/perform to the people behind the stage a few times (a plus, seeing how I was stuck back there).
* The people who wanted to see PJ got there early. As her performance went on, the non-fans came in, and they were even more awful than I predicted. Cell phones blaring, loud conversation, and "SHOW US YOUR TITS!" screams in between songs. The U2 crowd really disappointed me.

Advice:
* If you want the best place in the house, and you have general admission seats - get there early so you can get into the "heart". The people in there were the true fans... they were not talking on phones or screaming obscene remarks at either PJ or U2. They were very respectful to PJ.

thanks for the info!!! I've posted 'em on my toursite, I hope you don't mind; if you do, or if you'd like to be differently credited (email, homepage, real name etc) please, let me know. ;o

<b>extremely</b> charming setlist by the way, it included AAALLL of the songs I would've loved to hear her perform in milan, last march, but ...she didn't. :a

also, margaret actually does the backing vocals in down by the water, but afaik, the other BVs (APCH's for instance?) are done by rob (ellis).

Does she have her taped voice during 'a place called home'
because when that guy was trying to sing that song..i thought it was bad.

What a great setlist and review!

Told ya 'some' of those u2 fans are poops.

So what was u2 like..
did they play a lot of old songs...cause i would die to hear 'new years day'...
I hope they don't play to much from alyclb, that album bores me..except for beautiful day.

I wanna be in the heart!!!...
I think I'm going to be so far away from the stage....polly won't even hear me screaming...then I'll get beat up for saying 'she rules and u2 drools.
j/joking!

Thanks so much for that great review E.cowboy!

Though, I've never heard of PJ using backing vocal tapes before..i bet it was margaret singing.

My view was obstructed, so there is a good chance I was hearing Margaret and was not able to see her.

As far as U2... here are the songs I remember them playing (in no particular order):

Elevation
Beautiful Day
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
New Year's Day
Bad
Sunday Bloody Sunday
In A Little While
New York
Discotheque / Staring At The Sun
One
I Will Follow
The Sweetest Thing
Bullet The Blue Sky
Walk On
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Gone
With Or Without You
Mysterious Ways
The Fly

and that's it for now... maybe more will come back to me...

I wouldn't be so sure... it depends on which song we're talking about, but... for instance, there is some obvious BV in <i>working for the man</i> (past tours), and I was absolutely sure this was polly's voice sampled... until I've heard APCH live, where/when rob does the BV ("<i>come on my love...</i>") in that creepy falsetto voice... next time I listened to my stockholm98 fest boot, I realized that... the BV wasn't sampled...! ... that was (99% positivity)... rob!! ...WAAAH!!! :n *faints*

I had really good seats for the Denver show (lower level, side, close to the stage) and I just want to say that the people around me were totally into PJ. Even though the U2 crowd was still drifting in during PJ's set, I honestly felt that the people who were there were very supportive for the most part. There's always the token asshole at every show, but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased overall with the crowd's response to PJ. Guess it just depends on where you were and who's around you.

I, for one, could not take my eyes off Polly Jean. She was fantastic! She wore a shimmering, elegant halter-top pantsuit with black high heels. Her skin was like butta. :)

Add to Elysium's U2 set list:

Where the Streets Have No Name
Until the End of the World

I've still got a very intense version of "I Will Follow" bumping through my veins--a reminder that U2 actually has their roots in punk.

It was the best of the six U2 shows I've seen. It was absolutely magical. I tend to think of musical artists peaking in their early 30's, but these guys are peaking at 40. Bono looked a hundred times better than in any of the recent TV performances (man, TV makes people look rotten) and what was particularly noticeable to me was his joy. He smiled and laughed a lot--and, unlike on the last two tours--performed most of the show without the glasses. There was some amazing great energy there. They were absolutely radiant. I'm still glowing myself. :)

yay...i'm getting excited for the show.
U2 are a great band and just to see them live is going to kick ass.

Did polly have any of the screen tv's for her performance (i'm thinking no :( ) Because I'm going to be so far away from the stage.

Polly does look sexy live...like I a said a million times pictures don't do her justice..

Finney > Sadly, no, PJ didn't use any of the big screens. In fact, I'd have to say that the screens in general were perhaps the only let down of the show. Maybe it was because I didn't really need them and they were positioned for the people really high up, but from where I sat the picture wasn't good and not very big either. I strongly recommend investing in or borrowing a good pair of binoculars. I didn't even really need them but I used them through the whole show. God forbid I should miss a bead of sweat on Bono's brow!

Polly is way sexier live than I ever imagined. Found myself, as red-blooded heterosexual as they come, quite a bit attracted to Miss Polly Jean. Whoa! She's one hot rock & roll mama.

The sense that I'm getting from U2 fan reaction to PJ at these concerts is:

the closer they are to her, the more they are enjoying her performance, whereas, if they are seated further away..they aren't. Sitting far back means the sound isn't so good, and you are being distracted by your immediate surroundings more. Plus, seeing her at a distance, people are less apt to be seduced by her softly seductive demeanor. ;)

And, as I think joyfulgirl has stated once before, everyone is jacked-up to see U2...

Hell, Elvis could rise from the dead, jump on stage and start singing before them, and most fans would probably boo him because he would be delaying the appearance of U2!!!

Thanks joyful girl..brought binoculars to tori when i had nosebleed seats and got to see her give that middle finger during the show...haha
Can't wait to see polly and ...
as for bono I think he looks ultra hot with the shades.
:)
Damn though, I really was wishing for those screens.

You are probably right tethered, but I've heard though some of them are completely annoying.
