I just want to dye the front and a bit all around like I got tips or something and I was told by my hairdresser that I can't use what ladies use cause guys have different hormones in their hair than girls. Isn't there dye for guys now? Would I just lather it in like shampoo? I just want some advice...I don't want green hair or anything althought it would be cool. :)

first of all, your hairdresser is an idiot...i'm a guy and i use girls hairsye all the time (i really don't know why i don't use the guy's hairdye...maybe because girls' has more of a selection)...yeah, well you can get it at your local supermarket or something...

I saw haircolor at the drugstore for men by Feria (made by Loreal). I really like that brand- it's not harsh on your hair. They didn't have many colors for guys but they had blond, red, brown - basic colors. If you want your hair tipped don't do it at home. Go have it professionally done! That kind of hair color is for all-over color.

I knew it...

Ladies dye isn't that bad...thats what I always thought.

I was thinking of what you said to Nera...I wanted to check out that stuff by Loreal that came out for guys but I don't know much about it...

I had tips done one time too but I couldn't see them that well. It was a waste of money.

if you want to just streak it, feria has a new hair dye out that comes with a comb similar to the type hairdressers use to streak hair. it put me out $10 but it's worth it. :)

and as far as your hairdresser saying that a guy should use different hairdye, that's complete b.s. hairdye works by seeping into your hair. kool-aid, vegetable dyes and cranberry juice work the same way. hormones have very little to do with it.

I'll check into that too...thanks "V" :)

Yo,
Yer hairdresser is deceptive, attack him/her wit a afro pick!
Hay, if ya use dat Feria schtuff, let me know. It makes it chunky streaks metinks, but highlightin' caps are a pain.
Take care. Bi bis.

I used Feria to dye my hair red in January and blond a few days ago. And yes - it was the woman's brand. Your hairdresser is kind of slow... Plus, you have more of a selection with women's hair color. The Feria selection for guys is fairly limited.

Go for the gold, tiger!

It's not "women's " dye.......it's just dye with women on the cover. Any dye will work.

They have "dye for men", but all it is, is just the same dye with a man on the box. It's a marketing scheme.

I've dyed my hair countless times...... bleach, red, black, brown, ash blonde, bright red, blue, fushia, and various streak colors.

Kool-aid has never worked for me......it helps to have lighter color hair........

I've heard everything from vinegar, to salt, to water, to vaseline............

well said.
dye is dye is dye. doesn't matter if there's a chick on the cover or a guy. only difference is the selection.

i agree with gimpypoop, that attacking with an afro pick that was cute ;l i definitely think you should tell your hairdresser to get his/her facts straight or get out of the biz.
