I'm still trying to figure out whether the actual CD was made in 1980... the back reads: c 1980 noverican ltd. c 1980 EMI Records Ltd. Manufactured by Capitol records, inc., a subsidiary of Capitol Industries-EMI inc.
the booklet contains no lyrics, but this cute little blurb about what a CD is and how to take care of it, direct quote: "In storing and handling the Compact Disc, you should apply the same care as with conventional records." so cute.
I bought this CD used... was it really made in 1980? were CDs fairly new then?

cd's were fairly new...i have a ton from that period (early U2, kate, bob dylan--the list goes on) that have the little care instructions.

heh, i had no idea... i've always been under the impression that CDs are fairly new... you know, 80's= cassettes.
that's so cool! I have a 1980 CD! Sorry, I was born in 1985, so it's way before my time.

woops. i misunderstood...i don't think Never For Ever was actually made on CD when it first came out in 1980...but i do know that when CDs were first coming out, they used to put care instructions all the time! maybe midtolate 80s.

I have a copy of "The Kick Inside" (well, I had one) that had that, and the lyrics. My copy of "Never for Ever" has both. Odd.

All the Non US CD's apparantly have lyrics - cept The Kick Inside, The Sensual World and The Red Shoes
My copy of Lionheart is from Canada and it has full lyrics and the thank you's and all that
My copy of The Dreaming is from the UK and it has full lyrics, and extra picture, and a great inscription at that end that reads "this album was made to be played loud" - not to mention all the lyrics to these hard assed songs that helps so much...cept I still don't get em...but I do play the record loud, then louder, then louder and louder and louder and louder and louder and LOUDER!
MY HOL is American, and not the remastered, and has shit in it at all - which really pisses me off cuz I wanna know that poem at the end of Jig of Life so BAD!
LOUDER!
Chris
All of my CDs have lyrics and thank you's... I guess they are British, too tired to check now. Most of them, except TRS are the mid-price reissues I think.

how lame, not putting any lyrics in the american versions. when i thought everyone's was like this it was okay, but now that i know...i'm sad.

eh. i would like to think of myself as "special".
i like my american version. it's cute. are you sure it isn't from 1980? I see no other date written anywhere on the cd or the liner notes.

the cd was made in 1980 but i don't think the cd was pressed then. i have bob dylan cd's, for example, from the late 60's that only have that date on them. and i know those weren't pressed then.
of course you might wanna talk to someone who knows a little bit more than me. sowweeeee
