my boyfriend called several hotels in st. louis and they said that they were all booked up for that weekend. all of them!!
what the hell.
were not looking to spend like 120 bucks on a hotel, a fucking motel 6 will work, but does anyone know why they are all booked up?
is it just because of the tori show, or is other stuff going on?
anyway. does anyone know of a moderately priced hotel in stl that wont be booked up
its just ri-fucking-diculious. most the people were really rude about it too
we were originally just going to drive down for the nite, but we decided to stay because i sure as hell dont want to make two 7 hour drives in one nite...
anyone, someone help me... i mean, i know that theres still a fair ammount of time between now and the show...
better safe than sorry i guess.

Hmm..We're getting a hotel a few hours out of the city. Maybe you could do that too. You'll be too hyped up after the show anyways, you might as well get an hour start on your drive for the next day.

Cya there!!

Did you try just the city or the suburbs, too? If you go a bit deeper in the burbs, it might be easier.

which ones did you call?

oh man, i dont remember which ones we called because we called so many of them ;r
we really dont want to drive too far out of the city for a hotel though, fuck, i'll sleep in the car if i have to. but i dont think that would fly with my beenes.
motel 6 anyone?
:]

well, there is a rams game on the 28th....that would fill up A LOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTT of hotel rooms, especially in the downtown area.

09-18-2001, 06:31 PM
i seriously doubt all the hotels are full, i'd stay in the suburbs anyways, probably cheaper... i went there labour day weekend w/o anything booked and found a place just fine. i think i stayed in the super 8 in bridgeton which is by the airport and not too far from st. louis. theres a lot of hotels around there and in a lot of other places. just keep looking.

sosgal
09-18-2001, 09:30 PM
well if there is a ramz game then its true..no hotels will be open even the motel 6..i have done that before and it sucked to stay outside of the louis..look up bed and breakfast ..just a thought..i usually stay at hyatt regancy right on the main drag there by the fox..but im staying with my aunt this time to save 160$ for a room..so good luck and keep trying because some do cancel and you just have to keep trying..ok?? any word on meeting and greeting yet??

check with the Holiday Inn or the Red Roof Inn at Hampton & Highway 40 ... its not far from downtown and still in the city so you'll have a neat area ... by the cool places (South Grand, Loop, Central West End) ... you'll find something :f

Descend,

You really don't want to stay in St. Louis City. The places where the crime rates aren't bad are very expensive. And the closest subs like Clayton and U City are going to be over-priced too. Clayton is the govt. seat for St. Louis County. Its like a city all in itself. Skyline and all. Very Very pricey on rooms though. If Tori stays over night thats where she'd stay sort of thing ;) .

I would try: Maryland Heights, Creve Coeur, South County, Florissant, St. Charles. I guarantee there is a room available in one of these cities. NONE of them are more than 15 minutes from the show either. Florissant has a lot of hotels because of its location to the airport. (Close but not TOO close either). Maryland Heights and Creve Coeur are nicer areas to be as far as aesthetics and places to eat etc. Rooms may be harder to find there though. Olivette also is very close with a couple hotels. There are a couple off of Page of Lackland ave that are great spots too! Close to highways, cant get lost :).

Try to stay out of near north county(below or east of florissant), st. louis city, east st. louis, etc. Your safety is key, right?

Oh South City might be a good deal too.

Try the motel 6 website www.motel6.com They should give you desriptions of where all of them are.

the area i suggested (40 & Hampton) is perfectly safe...

FLORISSANT??? sure, stay there if you want to get mugged or raped ... or worse ... stay away from NORTH... north = :m very very bad ...

south city is primo but no hotels off hand ...

Rainbush

jusme,

have you ever been to Florissant ?! Florissant, especially up towards Jamestown is very very nice. A lot of money lives in the north part of Florissant. Lindbergh runs straight through the middle which makes it primo for hotels and motels. The people of Florissant are mostly working class, true (although like i said, not all) but that does NOT make it a bad area. East of Florissant (Spanish Lake) and south of Florissant (Ferguson) are not areas i would suggest staying, but Florissant itself is a great place! ESPECIALLY if youre looking for a cheap room for one night!

jusme, i have to say you come off really pretentious to say such things about a place like Florissant, I think I should take you for a drive through it and Hazelwood, I think you would be really suprised. I bet a lot of people there have homes twice your size. In fact I know they do.

My Grandma lived there so it was like a second home to me growing up.

jusme
09-21-2001, 10:41 AM
i agree ... the homes are nice ... the people tend not to be ...

if i appear to be pretentious, i apologize, i just thank God i got out of North County when i did (Florissant and Hazelwood) .. i guess its just not my crowd....

you say your grandma lived there ... have you been back since you 'grew up' ??

Rainbush

jusme,

I wouldnt buy a home there either. But some people like the atmosphere in Jamestown and parts of Florissant near Shakleford and the area. My girlfriend's uncle lives there. He's got a lot of money. Its just more of a sleeper community you know? What part of north county did you leave from? I wouldnt classify Florissant with the rest of North County. VERY different demographics. Hazelwood tends to be mostly white middle class people over the age of 55. Dangerous? I think not. And the families that do live there tend to be very well off. Check the demographics on the st. louis county web page. They average better than neighboring Bridgeton and actually pretty close to St. Charles. Not that St. Charles is the greatest place either. I wouldn't want to live there either. BUT.....

Im sure we could spend all day talking about the demographics of the St. Louis metro area :O .

Anyway, my point was I don't think it would be a bad spot to get a room for the night. Especially because of easy access to 170, 270, and Lindbergh.

jusme
09-21-2001, 12:28 PM
what im saying is whats wrong with the city -- not downtown?

ie the hotels i gave on 40 & Hampton? its super close to the venue & not a bad area ...

and yes, we could argue all day, but i am taking a 1/2 day vacation from work and must now leave :l ..

are you in STL?

Rainbush
09-21-2001, 01:40 PM
I was working on the assumption that those hotels would be booked (she said they called them) because of the Rams game being that weekend. She said she called most of the hotels downtown and around the venue.

Yeah Im in St. Louis.

hey. hoo. first post.

i'm at school in NY, but i'm from stl.

i recommend the kirkwood best western, its right on hwy 44 and you can get into the city in 30 min or less.
not too pricey, and right near a wal-mart and several reasonable eateries.
really a decent place for a one-night stay, and i wouldn't think they'd be booked.

Back on topic...

I know nothing about St. Louis and will probably just drive there after the Indy show. I need a hotel/motel that's cheap but not scary. I'm guessing it will be hard to get discounts on the major hotels if there's a game, so I'm probably looking for something like a Super 8. Anyone have any advice? It's too easy to have the cost of tickets look small compared to what you spend on gas and hotels. Anyone know how about the parking situation near the venue?

*whew* sorry this got so long.

d00r
10-02-2001, 05:27 PM
there are several super 8s around st. louis. you can check for all the locations at http://www.super8.com

i've stayed at the one in bridgeton (out by the airport, about 15 or 20 miles outside of the city) a couple of times and I haven't had a problem. Its not too far out of St. Louis and it has a fair amount of Restaurants out by it, like Olive Garden and Applebees, and there's some really good place where I got some really yummy food, but I can't remember the name of it. It ended up being around $50 a night for me, but thats with AAA discount, so it would be a little more without that. I didn't think it was scary. Its not exactly the Ritz or anything, but i didn't feel threatened.

but there are hotels all around st. louis. i'm sure you'll be able to find something.

Descend - if you are driving from Oklahoma, you'll probably be coming up 44, right? That's the highway I drive everyday to get to work, so let me be your personal tour guide for a moment. ;)

I would try:
- the Best Western in Kirkwood (as someone else suggested already). About 15-20 minutes from the Fox.
- the Motel 6 in Fenton (Bowles Ave. and 44) - about 20 minutes from the Fox
If you don't have any luck with those two, try:
- Ramada Inn in Eureka (right next to Six Flags - they have an awesome indoor pool and the rooms aren't too expensive)...about 40 minutes away
- Holiday Inn Express in Pacific - about 45 minutes away
- the Baymont Inn in Sullivan, which is about an hour out of the city down 44. That should be super cheap, since Sullivan isn't really a booming town, and that hotel is pretty new, so it should still be pretty nice. They have a Steak N Shake though, if you know what that is. YUM.

lioness - go to holiday inn's website, and sign up for Holideals. every Tuesday they send you an email with all the rooms they need to get rid of that week. That's the only way I book rooms. But let me suggest some areas for you as well:

- Westport - (270/Page) any hotels in this area are good. But I frequently get lost in Westport because it's so confusing... :D Westport is probably... 20ish minutes away? You can just hop on 40 and shoot right downtown.
- If you're up for driving after the show, I'd stay in Illinois, so it's closer driving back in Indy. I'm thinking... Collinsville? If memory serves there are a bunch of hotels right off the highway. Or you could even drive all the way to Springfield, IL. That's about... an hour, hour and a half away. Pretty "major" town, so again, lots of hotels.

If anyone else needs help finding hotels, feel free to email me. Make sure you put something distinctive in the subject, though, I have AOL and I just delete mail if I don't know what it is (I hate junk mail).

(And btw, Flo-town is not thaaat bad. ;) But don't worry, I used to be scared of it too until my sister lived there for a few months. Her apartment wasn't scary, anyway. Hehehe... North County makes me laugh. People from all walks of life end up there... If any of you end up in good ole Flo-town, you HAVE to eat at Old Town Doughnuts - they are THE best doughnuts EVER! :D )

Pretty close to the best western in kirkwood, there is a holiday inn in sunset hills...a little tiny bit more expensive, but...ya know.

oh, i can't believe i am even asking this, but i live in webster and i am wondering if anyone can give me a lift home after the show? i'm worried about public transporation after 10 pm.

thanks, Jamie

Hey, for a cheap room that isn't motel 6 you've got to try Red Roof Inn. Its 45 dollars a night, and a great baragain.

Florissant -- at 170 and 270 intersection. 170 can take you str8 to hwy 40 and kingshighway -- where the fox is. 20 mins top.

Bridgeton -- close to hwy 70. You would take 70 to 170 to 40 and do the same. Also around 20 mins.

Westport -- Page and 270. You could easily take 270 to 40 to kingshighway. or Page to 170 to 40. Either way its about 20 mins as well. This one is cheaper though at 35.99 a night!!

Theres also one in St. Chalres, but thats pretty far.

There is also one on Hampton, like 5 mins from the venue and right off of 44. But the price is 75 dollars a night. EEK! :)

I am in St Louis and will offer a ride to you from near where I live. I am out in St. Charles MO and there are plenty of hotels out here that are NEVER booked. One in particular that we always have friends stay at is the Red Roof Inn off of Zumbehl Road in St Charles area. I will pass there and can offer a ride for three people. hell i will even let some stay at my apartment....

anyways, anymore help ANYONE needs and I would be more than willing to help. ToVenusTori@yahoo.com

Dont be a yuppy, Hazelwood is completely safe. It has a low crime rate too. LOTS of people stay there because its not too far from the airport.

ToVenusTori
10-04-2001, 02:50 PM
I take offense to that. Dunn Road in THAT area IS bad. I used to hang out there when I was younger... and got into a LOT of trouble. And got shot at TWICE so I think I am not being a yuppy when I say that. A lot of people stay there yes cause it is near the airport. So you got me there. It IS a bad area though. None the less.
My cousin is a cop for that area and he hates it. He says HE is scared. This coming from a 6 foot 5 240 pound man. Take it how you like. If I sound like a yuppy so be it. I just wouldn't ever stay there if I was from out of town. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to that area as a matter of fact.

oh god i don't want to get into this arguement again!

Classifying all of north county as one collective unit and saying its a bad area is just wrong! There are NO similarities to Hazelwood and Jennings. Im sorry there just arent! Beverly Hills and Florissant dont have the same demographics!

You used to hang out there??? Who hangs out near motels? No wonder you were shot.

If your cousin is a cop and scared of Hazelwood, then I think that scares me! Because he can't be that great of a cop. There are worse areas to be in!! North St. Louis, Normandy, Ferguson, Hall St., etc.

Btw, there have been plenty of shootings in St. Charles. White trash people shoot just at often as ghetto people!

I think we can end this discussion though! She made her reservations and I think she will be just fine for one night (if she doesnt 'hang out' on the corners). Theres no need to get into another big convo about st. louis demographics.

shane

p.s one last thing, why is it st charles people always have to justify their moving into st charles by downing on florissant and hazelwood?????

oh god i don't want to get into this arguement again! (me either)

Classifying all of north county as one collective unit and saying its a bad area is just wrong! There are NO similarities to Hazelwood and Jennings(jennings is the area of Dunn road i am speaking of ). Im sorry there just arent! Beverly Hills and Florissant dont have the same demographics! (huh?)

You used to hang out there??? Who hangs out near motels? No wonder you were shot. (did i say i hung out at motels?! shot AT not shot. get your story straight)

If your cousin is a cop and scared of Hazelwood (again I said North County did not specify Hazelwood) , then I think that scares me! Because he can't be that great of a cop (was given a medal for service three times in the past 5 years thank you) . There are worse areas to be in!! North St. Louis, Normandy, Ferguson, Hall St., etc.

Btw, there have been plenty of shootings in St. Charles. White trash people shoot just at often as ghetto people! (so now you are calling me white trash cause i live in st charles? well that is the pot calling the kettle black now isn't it?--- you are way off there) (also when was the last shooting in st. charles? tell me that. There were two last week in North County.)

I think we can end this discussion though! She made her reservations and I think she will be just fine for one night (if she doesnt 'hang out' on the corners). ((LOL LOL yeah cause that is where i used to hang out right? Like you said previously)) Theres no need to get into another big convo about st. louis demographics. (just stating what i looked up)

shane

p.s one last thing, why is it st charles people always have to justify their moving into st charles by downing on florissant and hazelwood????? actually i have lived all over the country, missouri in general just sucks. the people in it, the people around it, the atmosphere, everything... well that is COMPARED to the other places I have lived.... i lived in CA (san diego and san francisco), Colorado (colo. springs) Arizona (phoenix), Florida (naples), Michigan (detroit Yuck), KC, MO, Georgia (atlanta) and Hawaii (Honolulu) and Texas (galveston) oh and Utah (SLC)... missouri is the worst of all of them so far.

Rainbush
10-04-2001, 08:09 PM
See how it feels when someone generalizes an entire area?

I wasn't saying all of St. Charles was white trash, just saying there is WT in St. Charles. Same with North County. However, there are those i know in west county who do scoff at St. Charles and call it hickville. I defend St. Charles, much the way i will North County.

I agree that MO sucks, but now we're really off the subject.

The point is she got a cheap room in an okay area.

shane

p.s Dunn road never goes into Jennings. Jennings is much further south. Dunn road is the service road for 270. It never gets close to Jennings. Where she is staying is the border of Hazelwood and Florissant at the intersection of 170 and 270. Close to Lindbergh. Its at least 30 miles from Jennings! :p

I think so, but don't hold me to that. My sister's apartment was about 1/2 mile off Dunn Rd. and it was nice, but I think that was in Florissant.

But anyway...

I will tell you that it is WAY out of the way, the direction that you are traveling. If you take 44 up, you want to stay in the southern part of St. Louis, not the northern part. It's just closer, plain and simple.

then again, you may not want to stay there because it'll be like going around your ass to get to your elbow, as someone else has said, if you're coming from a southerly direction.

The east of side of St. Louis is usually very safe. Its all small towns. Stay out of East St. Louis and Granite City. Check out Collinsville or Edwardsville. Fairview Heights is nice too. Its probably the biggest suburb on the east side.
