I was hoping some of you may have a good solution for puffiness or bags underneath the eyes that doesn't involve wearing makeup (since I'm a guy).....
I use moisturizer sometimes but I don't rub it in underneath my eyes. Should I?
Any suggestions would be apprecited. :)

MAC fast response eye cream is a good option
Prescriptives magic Wand might work too.

I noticed a few months ago that when I don't get enough sleep I get a bit of darkness under my eyes, so I started using Vitamin E Eye Cream from The Body Shop, and I have no more dark circles at all. Be careful when searching for an eye cream, because they tend to be task-specific (puffiness, lines, darkness, etc.); make sure the one you pick does what you need. I think it's fine to use moisturizer around your eyes, but I've read that most moisturizers aren't emollient enough for the eye area, and some of them can irritate or burn. Eye creams are gentler and richer than regular face moisturizers, in general.
Let us know what you get and how it works out for you!

Thanks Jen--Hmmm....now I don't know which to use....I think I get a combo of puffiness and dark circles, but some days it's just one of the other.....methinks I'll have to do some experimenting.

Cucumber compresses really do work. Also, try putting your eye cream in the refrigerator... it's very refreshing :)

I always heard about the cucmber thingy--thanks UN. As for eye cream, I didn't even know they made cream specifically for under the eyes, I always figured moisturizer was what you used, but it irritates my eyes that close.
Can any of reccommend a good eye cream for sensitive skin types (like myself)....I use a lot of Kiehls products, perhaps they make one?

I quite like Origins No Puffery. It's a very light gel so I think that would be a good option if your eyes are easily irritated. It takes care of my worst puffiness.
Get yourself one of them water-filled eyemasks you keep in your refrigerator. They help quite a lot.
Apart from that, you should excercise and stay away from alcohol, fatty foods, coffee and too much salt. And look forward to a healthy and boring future. ;)

So I bought the Origins Eye Cream (25 bucks) and I also got a tube of Jack Black Eye Balm (14). Supposedly the Jack Black stuff is meant for men or something....or that's what the lady at the counter told me.....
I've tried the Jack Black the past 2 days and have not seen a drastic difference. It's a clear gel and while I can feel it moisturizes, I don't think it's doing much for puffiness or dark circles under the eye, even though that's what is says it fixes on the tube. I'll give it a few more days and then give the Origins a shot and let you guys know, since I know you are all dying to hear about this. :)

Well, it's going to take longer than two days!
I have Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, and I love it. Yes, that is a line for men, but that's probably mostly a marketing scheme--I'll bet the ingredients are similar to those you'd find in a similar product for women. I don't know anything about that eye gel, but if it's anything like the lip balm, it'll be fantastic.
You might also want to make sure you're getting enough sleep. As I posted earlier, I noticed my eyes have some discoloration when I don't get enough sleep. I make more of an effort these days to get all the sleep I need. It makes such a difference!

Jen--I'm currently battling insomnia now, so the sleep thing is gonna be tough. I think it's the cause of the eye stuff entirely, since I exercise and eat well every day.
And remember, I'm a guy. If it doesn't work right away, it's crap! :)
I'll give Jack Black a week and then swtich to the Origins for a week and compare.

Oh, you poor thing. I think we have pinpointed the problem. I hope the products will help you, but I'm afraid no amount of eye goop is going to repair all the damage done by lack of sleep. However, let's hope the damage is temporary. I hope you can get rid of your insomnia soon. If I don't get proper sleep, I'm a cranky bitch!

Thanks for the thoughts Jen. Unfortunately, I write for a living so it seems like insomnia is part of the deal. I can't sleep at night because the head gets flooded with ideas and I've learned that if I don't get up and write them down, I'll forget them. Ugh...I actually have to nap during the day, but I can't stay this way too long.
Anyway, I'm getting about 4 hours a night, from about 4am to 8am, so that's better than nothing, but I'm trying to work on it. It's just that everyone I know has commented on the dark circles and I was hoping to make them magically disappear. :)
I started being irritated with my dark circles in 5th or 6th grade... But it's my genetics. No eye goop's gonna help. That's why I love my cover-up! :e

Ha! I found your puffy eye thread! AND I found a link with some suggestions: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Disco/3245/undereye.html
It inspires me AND makes me hungry. I think an efficient woman could use the cucumber puree, then have it for lunch!

I sell pharmaceutical grade skin care for a company called Kara Vita. We sell an incredible product called Eyelyph Serum that contains a ton of Vitamin C and green tea extract. You use it twice a day under moisturizer (and if you don't, we have an incredible moisturizer with sunscreen - all 8 hour technology). 30-day money back guarantee is provided if you're not satisfied...please let me know if you're interested.

Heheh I see Dawn found our little community :) I got my skincare through Dawn, I posted about it a couple of months ago.
I know that people aren't supposed to advertise on these boards, but if you're in the market for skincare and want to try something good, you might consider talking to her about it.
K, I'll get off my [soap] now :)

silly silly sauceboxx :)
I'm anxiously awaiting my eyelyph serum now... I like the idea of the "teabag" fix all day, without having to have teabags on my eyes all day. hehe

one thing everyone shd be careful is not to apply too much of those eye cream on your eye bags... just a tiny drop will do... if u apply too much... oil might accumulated under the bags and tiny lumps of spots will appear (no idea what's tht called).
moisturizer on eyebags is a BIG NO NO.

I have dark circles under my eyes! It is so frustrating. I don't want to keep trying to cover them up with make-up...does anyone have any comments on Dior's under eye treatment?? I know it's like $50, but is it good? I'm willing to pay whatever I need to get these things to go away! They make me so self conscious!
oh yeah AND I got a free sample of some Sephora Super Smart Facial Moisturizer and it's made under my eyes really sore, when i put on my makeup or touch under my eyes it hurts!! What do I do??

wow! a really really old thread! it's like a blast from the past.
Elisa's right, there's not one cream that's going to get rid of dark circles. Not one. All you can hope for is some plumping and a bit of moisture from your eye cream and finding a really good concealer.

I guess it does all depend on the person, though, and not everything works for everyone. I've been able to stop wearing concealer under my eyes in the last several months though, and I did get a product testamonial from a customer of mine, saying the same thing.
