A much talked about French artist who looks a bit like Rufus Wainwright and had remixes by Alpha, Svek and Towa Tei.

Has anyone heard any of his albums and if so, is he any good ?

Well I loved his Album KENNDY ROSE but I haven't heard his new one so far. My french is quite limited, but i loved the lyrics I understood, and if you are into french chansons, you should definately check him out. He is worth a try!

the man has a new album out, but I haven't got it, but I just want to draw some attention to him, just fishing for other opinions on his work

I have his remix album, Négatif and Home. Home is his album with his wife, Chiara Mastroianni.

Has anyone heard the new album ? And has anyone heard the soundtrack he has recently done ?

I know he's linked to a lot of other artists, like Coralie Clement ( I'm a bit interested in her too

)

I don't know him at ALL.

What I DO know though is that he did a duet with Heather Nova on her song "Let's Not Talk About Love" and I heard a clip and absolutely didn't like it....

If someone has the complete song I DO want to hear it though

Yes I was about to mention the Heather Nova duet! Why didn't you like it? It's on the french version of her 2003 album "Storm" and it's quite lovely, his voice at least sounds excellent to my ears and quite sexy too. How can I let you hear it?

I bought Rose Kennedy in Paris and I didn't really take to it. Etienne Daho is my French male of choice (and the boys from Air of course!)

I like him, but his album have just a tad too many sleep inducing songs. Some of them are musically just a tad too boring for me. I have the same problem with Keren Ann - that's why I have not bought their latest albums. They are the kind of artist that I wanna see try out a lot of different styles.

Here are some good ones from Negatif - Chaise à Tokyo, Little Darlin', and Glory Hole.

Oh, God, yes. Everyone is gushing cum over Keren Ann and I downloaded some of her stuff, because I love a French chanteuse (Francoise Hardy in the 60s? Heaven!), but Keren puts my ass to sleep.

That version was on all the french versions of Storm wasn't it?

Do you know the latest album of Françoise Hardy that came out in 2004? It's called Tant de belles choses and it's really beautiful - subtle, melancholic and warm. She has such a beautiful voice. And I just love the fact that she is over 60 and still making succesful music in France!
Benjamin Biolay wrote a song for that album and she has a duet with him on his new album.

I bought Biolay's new album and I love it. I think he tried some new things and it's a bit less accessible than other albums. There is also a choir on this album, the sound is a bit "harder" (??).
Bit I just love his sound, especially his strings. Sometimes his voice gets on my nerves, but of all those french "singers" who whisper instead of sing, he is one of the best.

P.S. I think Coralie Clément is his sister (unfortunately, she has absolutely no voice and her music is not very original).

Anyways: Thanks again for the song! It's interesting.. LOL I guess that's my way of singing: euhm thanks for being so nice to send me the file but I don't really like it...

But then again Im not really a fan of french singing overall.

I have finally bought A L'Origine from Benjamin Biolay, and let me just say that this album is a welcome change. Nothing too different from his previous work, but more variation in sounds. More guitars and all that stuff... I'm halfway through the album now
