Mmm....perhaps you might not have it in the US. It's a British thing done by this guy called Steve Coogan. He plays Alan Partridge, a bitter failed chat-show host turned local radio presenter. The first series was "Knowing Me Knowing You" which was like a spoof chat show, but the second (and, as of yet, last) series was like a documentary of his life. Basically, it's absolutely hilarious. Partridge is such a completely sad, arrogant, pathetic little man that he's just funny constantly. Sample quotes: "Ladyboys....fascinating creatures. Looks like a woman, but really it's a man. I don't find them attractive, it's just confusing." (talking about U2's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday') - "It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it. You've got to read the paper, wash the cars, take the kids out, and you think 'Sunday, bloody Sunday." You've got to see it, really. I think it's one of the best comedy shows of all time. |
