Love Toad The Wet Sprocket Reunion!

Hi, I haven't posted in this forum in a long time, so forgive me if I'm posting totally old news, but I did a search and couldn't find any threads on my favorite band.

Toad is getting back together! Temporarily at least. If you're even reading this thread than you must have been somewhat saddened when they disbanded oh so many years. Well I'm a huge Glen Phillips fan (see sig) and I see him solo live as much as possible (perhaps some 30 times in the past 2 years) and yet I cannot express the indescribable joy that came to me when I found out that the band was getting together for a few shows. So far they are just opening for Counting Crows for several west coast shows in December but there is talk of a 20 city tour starting in February.

For those of us who are Tori fans (and I imagine most of us are) some of the shows do conflict with Tori shows in the same general area, so there's been some difficult decisions made on my part as Tori/Toad are pretty much equal in my esteem.

check out http://www.glenphillips.com/tour.html for more info and/or countingcrows.com. toadthewetsprocket.com is up now, but i don't know if it has any info yet.

And come support Toad so they know we wanna see more!

ok, end gushing.

I saw them live twice in about 1992 when they played a tiny little "club" in our student center basement at CU. They were so nice, and fun to see...I can only imagine what they will sound like now, in much bigger venues and probably totally rejuvenated after all these years! I expect full reports on the shows you see.

And guess who finally bought the Glen Phillips cd? WOO!

Love,
Alannah

hurray! i was getting ready to bootleg a copy for you. the new glen songs are even better i tell you.

so far i plan on seeing 4 Toad shows right about the same time as i'm seeing 6 tori shows. That makes 10 shows in 12 days in december! Can you say YIKES! I may die, but oh what a fun way to go!

I will definitely have some reviews to share, tho they might be somewhat delayed.

Wow. That is a LOT of freaking concerts!! You go, girl! You're going to need to sleep for a week after that! What's your itinerary?

Is the new Glen release on the horizon?

Karen's Crazy Itinerary:

Dec 10th: Toad opening for Counting Crows, Universal Ampitheatre, L.A., CA

Dec 11th: Toad opening for Counting Crows, Wiltern Theater, L.A., CA

Dec 13th: Tori, UCSD, San Diego, CA

Dec 14th: Tori, Joint, Las Vegas, NV

Dec 16th: Tori, Gammage Aud., Tempe, AZ

Dec 17th: Tori, Universal Ampitheatre, L.A., CA

Dec 18th: Tori, Universal Ampitheatre, L.A., CA

Dec 20th: Toad opening for Counting Crows, Warfield, San Francisco, CA

Dec 21st: Tori, Bill Graham, San Francisco, CA

Dec 22nd: Toad opening for Counting Crows, Warfield, San Francisco, CA

------

the show on the 22nd is unconfrimed as of yet, and i don't have tickets for it or the 11th or 21st. But that's the plan.

I know, I'm a little nutty. But I'm so excited! Glen is playing solo in Vegas (opening for counting crows at the joint) on dec 6th, and i'm peeved that I can't go! I wished I liked counting crows better, tho.

oh and the new glen album is supposed to be worked on in january i think, so it won't be out for a while yet.

Don't forget about MAS (mutual admiration society) the collaboration CD between Glen and Nickel Creek due out early in 2003!!! I REALLY can't wait for that one.

Yeah, I also heard about the reunion over at www.glenphillips.com. Sounds like they might even record together in the future, if they can get along for awhile at least!! I hope so... though I do love Glen's solo stuff (It Takes Time is one of my favorite songs of all time, and Darkest Hour is also quite good).

Eh, you're not THAT crazy, Karen...all of your Toad shows are in Cali! But yay for you that you get to see so many shows...I hope my piddly ONE Tori show is good because that's all I'm getting! And yeah, it would be nice if you liked Counting Crows better. But maybe you'll love them after this tour! I hope so, for your sake.

I'm looking forward to the MAS cd too. What I've heard is great!

i'm sure compared to some i'm perfectly sane, or not fanatic enough. but majority seems to think me looney. yeah the toad shows are all in cali which helps. and if it wasn't for tori, i would be seeing five toad shows in s.f. alone. which isn't to say i wouldn't travel outta state for toad, i just haven't had an opportunity recently (i have in the past)...and if a the fabled 20 city tour comes to pass, likely i will be too busy to go (unless i don't find a job, which means i will have all the time and none of the money).

from what i know about the MAS cd it should be good. It was all recorded live in glen's garage (where he recorded his album, so a full fledged studio), so it will have that feeling of spontaneity that makes everything better. also i believe there are other musicians involved as well, but i'm not sure.

YAY for Toad!! They're great live. I've seen them 3 times, twice in very small venues, and they were super.

Favorite tracks:

begin
whatever i fear
is it for me?
pray your gods

i hope they stay together and do some recording

I'm not a big Toad fan, but they had some lovely songs. My favorites:

ALL SHE SAID
Something's Always Wrong
Crazy Life

I'd like to hear Glen's solo stuff someday...
