Go and listen to Kid A and Amnesiac. Then go and listen to The Bends. And something by The Who. | | | 12-03-2002, 05:16 PM | #2 | | Never Relaxed. "radiohead does not rock." "radiohead was a rock band." Just a thought. I enjoy Radiohead, and think the band puts on a pretty good live show. | | | 12-03-2002, 05:24 PM | #4 | | esoterically mainstream Join Date: Aug 2001 Posts: 1,000 | Quote: Originally posted by bratboy420 Isn't it more correct to refer to 'radiohead' as a sigular band? More frequently I've heard "Radiohead are..." as opposed to is. But I tend to see it as a collective singular noun. Regardless -Amnesiac is one of the best albums I've ever heard and I don't get why there is a whole seperate thread like this... | | | 12-03-2002, 05:31 PM | #5 | | Waluigi's Plum Factory. I don't see why it can't work both ways And don't get me wrong, I love Radiohead, Kid A particularly. I was just sick of the Radiohead Suck!/Radiohead RAWK! shit. Wanted to start a thread of my own. Sneeze, onstage they do perform songs differently and they still perform The Bends/OK Computer material, but I just can't describe them as a rock act any more. Even OK Computer didn't 'rock' that much. Subterranean Homesick Alien? Exit Music? Climbing Up The Walls? Paranoid Android dissolved into a gothic chorus and Airbag really was the sound of DJ Shadow with a chorus and the gain turned up. | | | 12-03-2002, 05:40 PM | #6 | | BethanyTedder Join Date: Feb 2002 Posts: 6,805 | It's all about good music, really. Why bother looking for the entity behind it? Just sit back and enjoy it. | | | 12-03-2002, 06:07 PM | #7 | | loveable sexbot Join Date: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,479 | DUUUHHH!! radiohead is singular, so you shouldn't refer to it as plural. last time i checked, there was only ONE band by the name of radiohead. | | | 12-03-2002, 06:09 PM | #8 | | _ Join Date: Feb 2000 Posts: 22,311 | Radiohead rocks | | | 12-03-2002, 06:48 PM | #9 | | Waluigi's Plum Factory. I know there's only one band called Radiohead. Radiohead are five people. They, together, are Radiohead. Or, Radiohead is five people. Their band is called Radiohead. Both are just as valid as one another. But how many times have you heard a band say on stage "We are (whoever they are)"? Lots, I'll wager. | | | 12-03-2002, 06:51 PM | #10 | | BethanyTedder Join Date: Feb 2002 Posts: 6,805 | And Radiohead was derived from the Talking Heads single Radio Head, which was out in 1987. Which was probably the only decent thing released in 1987. | | | 12-03-2002, 06:55 PM | #11 | | Waluigi's Plum Factory. Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 14,513 | Document, R.E.M. I mean, OK Computer had its few moments of bleepy rock, but anyone who called them Rock after Kid A should have their tits kicked off with a metal elephant. By the way, I am the world's biggest Radiohead fan. Also, I'm just getting into the Talking Heads and they're magnificent. | | | 12-03-2002, 07:33 PM | #15 | | loveable sexbot Join Date: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,479 | Quote: Originally posted by Xtal What the fuck are you talking about?
