We've sure had a lot of Cure threads around these boards lately... makes me happy. Anyway, The Cure is one of my very favorite bands and Robert Smith is God-like. I'm just gonna ramble on now...

My favorite album is probably Wish, followed by the famous "trilogy" (Pornography/Disintegration/Bloodflowers). I also really love some of the albums that nobody talks about like Seventeen Seconds and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. I'd also like to say that everyone should check out the Paris live album, as it had a profound impact on me as a Cure fan... it got me buying and listening to the back catalog.

Here's a cool little story I told in an older Cure thread. My best friend and I went to a housewarming party several years ago and they were playing stupid music, so we went to her car and dug out her cassette of Disintegration. Right after we played "Prayers For Rain", it started to rain, hehe.

BTW, There are lots of exciting things scheduled for next year: new Cure album, Robert's solo album (may be packaged as a bonus disc w/ the new Cure album), the trilogy concert DVD, and the b-sides box set.

Oooh, new Cure stuff? I am SO gonna max out my credit card! I too love the Paris live album, very well done. Hey Pelechick, have you heard the B-side "Snow in Summer"? It's so beautiful? My fav is Halo. There's something about those lyrics that make me want to hug somebody... *reaches out to hug you* There's a hug for being a fellow Cure fan!!!!

Yay! Cure fans rock!!! I recently got my brother listening to the B-sides as well. He likes Piggy in the Mirror, bcuz I call him Pig, and he says it sounds trippy.
Pelechick, have you heard any of The Glove? It's SO magnificent. Also I have this old-school version of Robert singing Happy Birthday to Simon. He says before the song that Simon is turning 20, imagine that? Simon is like, 35 or older! I play it every year on my birthday, and I imagine that Robert is singing it to me.

CuRe fans do ROCK!! The Glove is great. Robert once said that his only regret about that project is not singing ALL of the songs! Mr Alphabet Says and Perfect Murder are so great!! His voice is so awesome, and youre right about the lipstick thing. While Halo and Snow In Summer are both great B-Sides, I would have to say that This Twilight Garden is theee best!! So romantic and beautiful indeed!
Pelechick, do you still want to trade shows?? I have been lazy since Ive gotten back, and havent had much time for anything. I will be getting like 10 or so more shows from various tours soon, so there will be plenty for you to chose from. I will email you when I get a minute to list them all for you. I do have a Kiss Me show that you might be interested in. Lets keep this CuRe thread going, so it stays on TOP!! hehe.....

I am going to go broke myself!! I heard that the new album is going to be out in Sept 2003. The longer they wait though, the better. That way I have more time to save money to follow them again. I cant wait!! Pele, I didnt even know that there was a b-sides box set coming out!! If Robert releases his solo project, I will probably have a heart attack!! Hes been saying that for soooo long. Hes a known/self-labeled liar. But we still love him anyway!!

i´m always replying to the Cure-threads just by writing "i adore them". and that´s basically it in a nut shell.
they´re amazing, their songs make me laugh and cry (well ok mostly they make me cry) and the Cure are just perfect.
so there

The Cure are hands down my favourite band ever.

I think my fave album is probably the 'forgotten' Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Faith is a close second.

Favourite b-side is unquestionably 'This Twilight Garden'.

One thing that always strikes me as odd is how they get labelled as a 'miserable' band - they always seem to cheer me up. I remember was listening to 'Just Like Heaven' and wanting to cry out of happiness! No-one else has ever made me feel like that, it's odd.

I'm so excited about the prospect of new stuff too... and to think Robert said 'Bloodflowers' would be the last LP...

Robert's said every album since Disintegration would be the last, so I'm never believing him whenever he rambles on about the end of the Cure hehe. They'll never quit... or shouldn't, anyway. They're one of the few last great long-lasting bands out there. I can honestly say they're my favourite band.

Every time I neglect Disintegration, it comes around and kicks me in the ass, so I'm gonna say Disintegration is my fave album. Favourite songs would be The Figurehead and The Kiss.

Halo, New Day, and This Twilight Garden are great, but I think Play is the best b-side. I also really like Another Journey by Train, and the instrumentals on the Lost Wishes cassette (Uyea Sound, Cloudberry, Off to Sleep, The Three Sisters).

I'm really anxiously waiting for September

the Cure is my all-time favorite band... i basically listened to nothing else for a year after I "discovered" them.

I remember it very clearly. I bought the "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" cassette because I loved the artwork... I'd never heard a note of their music. I was grounded at the time, which meant that I wasn't supposed to be listening to music (which to me, was a fate worse than death! ) So naturally I locked my bedroom door, and put on my walkman, and played "Kiss Me"... and was so blown away. I'm still blown away by that snarling, psychadelic guitar on "The Kiss".... I still think "Kiss Me" is maybe my favorite album, just cause it was the first...

but nah... "Disintegration" was the best. every track is perfection... the beautiful instrumental opening to "homesick".... the "storm" effects on "the same deep water as you"... so great. Anybody else prefer the single mixes of the "Disintegration" songs? I made a CD for myself of "Disintegration", but using the single versions instead. They're all quite different than the album versions.

But they're all great. I love hearing the "faith", "pornography" and "seventeen seconds" tracks today.... the originals are all great, but sound very dated. It was so great to hear "The Drowning Man" and "100 Years" on The Dream Tour... sounded so great and fresh....

Favorite B-Side? Let's see.... I love "Play"... can't understand why it wasn't on "wish". But they have so many great b-sides.... my probable favorite is "A Chain of Flowers". and "A Man Inside My Mouth".... and "Splintered In her Head"

How about some of your favorite overlooked tracks? I think some stuff from "The Top" like "Bananfishbones" and "The Empty World" are kinda overlooked... and "Just One Kiss" is great. And how about "Sinking"? I LOVE THAT SONG. So powerful live. and "Like Cockatoos".... so many favorites.

this is so great that all of us love the cure above anybody else!! im with you MANDRAKE - this twilight garden is thee best b-side i think. it has to be one of the most romantic cure songs ever!! youre right about them being happy too!! its comforting to know that someone else is experiencing those feelings and that youre not alone. i know that sounds cheezy, but its true. and the music....so dreamy and wonderful!!!

JON, kmkmkm was my first too, which is totally why it stands out the most. pornography would come a close second though. did you read "a perfect day for bananafish" by j.d. salinger? its just as nuts as bananafishbones! maybe even more-so. as for overlooked tracks, i would have to say the drowning man, doubt, holy hour, cold, siamese twins, prayers for rain, how beautiful you are, disintegration, etc...

did you guys hear who robert chose to produce the new album?? ross robinson (the guy that did korn first 3 records)!! i couldnt believe it, but of course, robert is a genius and will be calling the shots anyway, so im sure itll turn out just fine. he did say that it is going to be an industrial record!! then again, he said that wms was going to be a dance record and that didnt happen. well see what old robert has to throw at us now. i cant wait!!!
