So I bought her a sweater, took her out for a nice crab leg dinner and she wanted to rent a movie and spend the night cuddling. Good idea. I could get into watching some Bruce Lee movie. Nope, we had to get The Clerks (which btw, is funny as hell). So about 10 mins into the movie she falls asleep. Zonked out. She hates to be bothered when sleeping. No cuddling. Just playing on the computer, while she sleeps. Can someone explaine to me the difference between Sweetest Day and Valentines Day? So um------>Happy Sweetest Day. | | | 10-22-2000, 12:59 AM | #2 | | rumpled Join Date: Apr 2000 Posts: 4,110 | lol.. i just have to chuckle. I work at Hallmark. Sweetest Day is pretty much a day that Hallmark made up to sell more cards and things. It has no significance whatsoever. Other girls may think it's important, but I think it's silly to celebrate a holiday that doesn't exist. Well, it exists in the minds of some rich Hallmark employees... Oh, and my parents were married on "Sweetest Day" which I find hilarious Jamie | | | 10-22-2000, 01:08 AM | #4 | | clique outkast Join Date: Apr 2000 Posts: 9,690 | never heard of it i'm gonna tell jordyn "happy sweetest day!" whoopie!! | | | 10-22-2000, 01:10 AM | #5 | | I want only my son Join Date: Mar 2000 Posts: 9,139 | i never heard of sweetest day until i worked at a gift shop. it's just yet another thing that makes you feel lousy when you're single. | | | 10-22-2000, 01:37 AM | #6 | | *A Matter Of Time* Join Date: Aug 2000 Posts: 732 | Ok, I'm a sap. Jesus, they announce it on every radio station here, and there's big displays in every grocery store. Here I was thinking crap, I missed an "sentimental day." Well thanks for responding. Next year I can forget about it. | | | 10-22-2000, 02:19 AM | #7 | | Read, Think, Reply Join Date: Oct 1999 Posts: 11,738 | It's like they're saying we men need an excuse to be sweet to our partners? I think if you just practice sweetness every day you don't need Hallmark to remind you. This is one of the reasons I care enough to not send "the very best"... | | | 10-22-2000, 02:21 AM | #8 | | onfire Join Date: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,333 | <font color=indigo><font face="book antiqua">another holiday created to make people like me feel lonely. | | | 10-22-2000, 02:38 AM | #9 | | i am the witness i am Join Date: Mar 2000 Posts: 4,273 | so, since it's after midnight, does that mean it is now StomachAcheDay? yeah, after all the sweet eef | | | 10-22-2000, 08:29 AM | #10 | | Pretty cunning don't ya think? Maybe it's not meant for "couples" but just for a day to recognize any good things. Yesterday was an amazing day, regardless of not spending it with my b/f. A friend that my mom became close with invited my family for a barbeque in the park. It was sunny out. A great day to visit the city. As we parked the car we saw this huge group of people. We were not to sure if that was the party or not. But as we approached them my Mom recognized Mrs. J. We received plenty of stares, maybe being the newcomers. We played frisbee, ate a lot of food, laughed, sang, and danced. I learned about thier culture. The women and girls played with my hair, giving me the most outrageous hairstyles....but I loved it. We laughed some more....while they dared me to wear my hair like that for school. It was starting to get dark and many of them were concerned. They told us we should leave soon, for safety precautions. My little sister (being outspoken as she is) said..."so what's the big deal? My dad knows how to get home?" After thank you's, hugs, kisses, and goodbye's....one of the guys said.... "By the way, you dance pretty good for a white girl." Then he winked and I laughed. I will not mention anything about the race of the family we spent the day with. It's irrelevant. But it will be a day I hope can repeate itself in our home or theirs. So yeah, it was "sweetest day". BTW Luna, I love Halmark and can spend hours there! | | | 10-23-2000, 01:26 AM | #12 | | @ctive member Join Date: Apr 2000 Posts: 264 | i think 99% of all holidays are crap.. who really cares when they say they do anyhow? Not many people truly believe what they say anyhow. I gave up a long time ago. | | | 10-23-2000, 07:44 AM | #13 | | Livin' on a prayer Join Date: Mar 2000 Posts: 2,440 | Aw Delicate, very few have your views on being able to see the good in all. With that, Sweetest Day can be viewed as giving, rather than another 'Valentines Day' shared with a singular one. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -4.
