| Virginia  Join Date: Jul 2001 Posts: 1,246   |  Gwen solo album? (from No Doubt) Anyone heard about Gwen Stefani recording a solo album? I wonder what type of music. Perhaps a mix of "south side" and "let me blow ya mind"? Or something totally different. I wish No Doubt would record another album. Rock Steady was awesome! |

I want another no doubt album too! I love Rock Steady!!! |

Tragic Kingdom is a masterpiece. Initially i was real disappointed with RS because of the new pop jamaican sounds but i got used to it and i like it now. Its just a fun party album, and it always makes me happy despite its not so happy lyrical content. |

| @ctive member Join Date: Jun 2001 Posts: 187 | To say that Gwen Stefani is the "main" songwriter of No Doubt would be unfair to the rest of the band, since they all write to some extent. However, if you look at the credits on Rock Steady and Tragic Kingdom (the only two that I own), Gwen is listed as a songwriter on every single track, even on those tracks that are only credited to two members of the band, and her name is always listed first. She also has the sole songwriting credit for 2 tracks on Tragic Kingdom. It's probably fair to say she's got a pretty big hand in the songwriting. |

Gwen writes all the lyrics and almost all the vocal melodies, and some of their best songs (Simple Kind of Life, Suspension Without Suspense) were written solely by her. | blondie  Join Date: Sep 2001 Posts: 14,792 | ehh, if this is true, i knew it would happen sooner or later. i hope gwen doesnt get so big headed that she thinks shed be better off without her band. looks how long theyve been together and putting out amazing shit...they are all so close...putting out a solo album seems a little backstabbing to me. anyways, the reason no doubt is so kick ass isnt all about gwen. its because the band has amazing chemistry. break that up...that might be bad. but if she does put something out ill still get it, im so in love with that chicky.  |

I am not quite sure if it will become a full-blown solo project, singles for a soundtrack or just songs (like with Moby and Eve). I am just kind of letting it take me where it takes me and see what happens. It is all part of a process for me, sort of an extension of the challenge No Doubt gave ourselves on "Rock Steady."
