Default Madame Maxime and Mad-Eye Moody: Frances de la Tour and BRENDAN GLEESON!

www.the-leaky-cauldron.org states:

Mme. Maxime and Mad-Eye Moody Cast

The BBC has confirmed with warnerbrothers that Madame Maxime will be played by 1970s sitcom star Frances de la Tour, while Mad-Eye Moody will be played by Brendan Gleeson, most recently known for his work as in Troy, as Orlando Bloom's character's bitter rival.

---

The casting of Brendan Gleeson is fabulous! I remember him mostly as Frank from 28 Days Later.

I must admit, I'd been harboring a hair-brained scheme, resulting from my annoyance over Rik Mayall being cut out of the series as Peeves. (Maybe they'll put him in the 4th movie, otherwise how will they adapt the Egg scene on the stairs?) I wanted Rik to play Mad-Eye, you know, all built up and wearing prosthetics and stuff, and then at the end he could play Barty Crouch too.

But the casting of Brendan is just too good, so I surrender my pathetic dream.

I just hope Rik finds his way into the movies somehow!

yeah, i was disappointed when Rik was cut from the film. i remember thinking, "god, he's perfect for Peeves!" I hope he makes his way somehow on to the series, i've loved him since the Young Ones.

Oh, me too! My parents taped The Young Ones off of MTV when I was just a little kid and I used to watch the videos until they got lost when we moved. Then my friend Cristin bought both series on DVD and we watched them all ... it had been a long time! Rik is so fabulous

Hmmm...in my wildest dreams, I hoped that David Bowie would play Mad-Eye. *le sigh* But I'm sure that Brendan Gleeson will do a good job.

I wonder who this Frances de la Tour is?

An excellent actress.

http://www.leonardrossiter.com/risin...Main.html#Tour

http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0209428/

She played Ruth (Miss) Jones in Rising Damp with Leonard Rossiter in the 70's That was her defining TV role for many years.

She will make an absolutely superb Madame Maxime!
