OK, the movie, "Will Wonka & The Chocolate Factory", with Gene Wilder was just on HBO. I know this movie is based on the book, "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory", by Roald Dahl, author of Matilda and James & The Giant Peach, too. However, there is also a candy company called
Willy Wonka(maker of SweetTarts and Tarts-N-Tinies-does anyone remember those? they were great!), which is now owned or was always owned by Nestle. My question is what is the origin of this candy company? Did it come about after the popularity of the movie or was it always around, even before the book?
Also, I saw on this
website, that during the Jim Jones incident in Guyana, the kids were forced to watch Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory to take their minds off of the adults drinking the poison(the purple juice or whatever it was called) around them. Of course, I think the kids later drank the poison, too. Not too sure.
Later,
Mark =)
