I gotta say that nowadays I'm really enjoying "Draft 7.30" Autechre's newest. It's a really beautiful album, that definitely works better than Confield to my ears. | | | 10-21-2004, 01:47 PM | #7 | | Superst@r Join Date: Jun 2003 Posts: 1,283 | . "Confield" is grand, but "LP5" has to be my favourite. I find it funny when people find this hard to get into, if you compare it to other Autechre releases (especially recent) it doesn't seem half as abstract. However, it still has a complexity to it that can bewilder, but not without a strong melodic/percussive underlining, and the production is some of the best they've done (on headphones they make great use of space). I'm seeing Autechre on tuesday, and I really think it may be an emotionally charged and life affirming experience. All I own by Autechre is this and Amber though, I tried Incunabula, but it didn't grab me at all. How does LP5/Autechre and Confield compare to the earlier Chiastic Slide ? | | | 05-16-2005, 05:18 PM | #11 | | Where youth & laughter go Join Date: Aug 2001 Posts: 9,368 | Quote: | Originally Posted by Man Next Door My favourite has got to be Chiastic Slide, possibly my favourite electronica album with Geogaddi. It's mostly got enough subtle melody to not come across as cold and mechanical as some of their other work (even though this can appeal to me too). They truly sound inspired, and "arch carrier" is generally agreed by most (it seems) as one of Autechre's pinnacle moments. The brand new Autechre, "Untilted" that just came out this year is quite good too. The production is quite impressive, but the most outwardly melodic it seems to get is with some subtle ambient parts. It's quite a percussive album, worth checking out. A last thought on LP5- Autechre albums are kind of an emotional investment for me, there have been times where the last thing I wanted to listen to was Autechre, but with "Lp5" it's got an accessibility that seems to work with any mood I'm in. | | | 11-23-2005, 03:55 PM | #12 | | Where youth & laughter go Join Date: Aug 2001 Posts: 9,368 | I'm in one of those moods lately where this album is perfect. I don't want to say anything I've said before, but I really feel this is one of the best electronic albums to have been released in the last ten years. It may be the best thing Autechre's done, even though their programming gets more elusive and intriguing in recent albums, "LP5" comes off like a more emotional and breathing album (with better ideas). | | | 11-24-2005, 11:58 AM | #13 | | jealous of my little sensations.
