I'm starting this new thread with the hope that everyone will join in..get some good discussion going.

Here is your chance to gush over your favorite PJ Harvey song lines..tell us about some lines or verses that you really enjoy..touch you..have special meaning for you.

Or even lines you would just like to discuss..maybe you're baffled by the "meaning" of something and would like to get some other perspective on that song line or verse.

I'll start with one


It's from the song 'Is This Desire?', the line is:

'...the sun dressed the trees in green..'

I LOVE THAT LINE!


so simple, yet, what a great way to describe trees!!!
elegant and original..very nice

I think some songwriters think that, in order to be good, they must somehow always write about deep subjects, making grand philisophical statements, when sometimes it's just simply a matter of bringing attention to "simple" things..finding new ways to describe them. Elevating our appreciation or insight a little.
