I decided to post this here rather than OMA because... well, look at it. There are a few that I'm intruiged to hear, though (see entries for 96, 77, 76, and 69, but especially 75).
I'm fascinated by the trainwreck aspect of some of these covers. Teenage Dirtbag by Girls Aloud! (coz I'm just a teeeeeenage dirtbag baby "in my oooh") Toxic by Hard Fi!
Yeah, but The Fray? The Twang? The Streets? Mika? Fuck no.
However, Maximo Park I reckon would do a good Like I Love You, and I expect Klaxons to make a joyful, spasticky, dayglo mess of No Diggity. Quick! To the Illegaldownloadmobile!
Yeah, but McFly! Maximo Park! Girls Aloud! Robbie Williams! Foo Fighters! Motherfucking KYLIE! Come on!
Callum! You've kinda made the two Forum Worlds of me and Pete collide. This is dangerous business.
I don't think I can bear Robbie doing Lola. I don't really like the song anyway, and I expect his cover will be irritatingly cheeky and smug. Also, Foo Fighters haven't been good for years, and it's a fucking Paul McCartney song.
There are some interesting choices there, definitely, and I'm excited to hear Kylie, Maximo Park and Klaxons, and I'm sure Teenage Dirtbag will be gleefully silly. But there is so much that's horrible about that list, and it makes my brain sad.
Well, the thing about the Girls Aloud cover is that it's already been knocking about for some time. I love that Nicola takes the lead, along with Cheryl and Sarah's gurning and hamming away. Say what you will about GA, but they were bloody entertaining during that tour/era.
I'll have a listen to the Maximo Park and McFly ones as well. And the Sugababes.

You can just shut up, that's what you can do. You're ruining all my fun.
The thought of Natasha Bedingfield covering my all-time favourite Madge song makes me want to cry.
That said, I can't wait to hear Kylie do Roxy Music, or Klaxons doing No Diggity. This album would be so much better if it didn't involve so many nothingy Radio 1 favourites, like The Twang, The Fray and Just Jack.
HOT. As is the prospect of Klaxons doing No Diggity.
Radio 1 is fucking insufferable just now, though. Like an issue of the NME from 1991 except you can hear it. The Twang are just awful, and they're going to kill Drinking In LA to death. And Hard Fi! Everyone and their mum's covered Toxic. Surely they should be covering The Clash. Or are they pretending that no one has noticed their lofty aspirations of being like a band who make them look like a pile of puke?

Could be excellent. Jack White's one staggeringly talented man. If anyone can do it...
No. Just... no. Jack White is such a yowly yelpy yodeller. Also, I hate him. I can think of five bands that would do an awesome Teenage Kicks, and one that already has.

Teenage Kicks is probably the most perfect song ever committed to tape. Jack White is a good singer, a good guitarist, and very musically literate. It'll be good, possibly great - at least, it'll be within the boundary where there can legitimately be discussion, difference of opinion and personal taste.
Unlike the horror of fucking McFly defacing The Jam, for which they should be strung up by meathooks through their nipples.
