It was awesome! Very funny, and well, Spike in tweed, PRICELESS! The only trouble I had was some of the dialogue was eh...like Buffy saying at the beginning, "It would really simple things" or something. Hello, you speak the English, yes? The ending was sad, sad, sad...but right. I don't blame Tara for leaving Willow, the stupid pissant. I don't blame Giles for leaving, because he's right. 1) Why do you think Dawn ran away from Tara? I mean, what the hell? 2) Do you think the Scoobs are going to figure out Willow was behind all this? 3) Will we ever see Tara again? Buffy and Spike smooches. Always a good thing. and finally, does anyone know who the musical guest was, during the Bronze scene? She reminded me a little of Emm Gryner, but I'm sure it wasn't her. __________________ "I'm an explorer." "I thought you were a writer?" "I do many things. I span the genres. We both posted at the same time! Oh well, i'll just cut and paste what i wrote in my thread here: Okay, first off - what a combination of hilariously funny and wrenchingly dramatic! I was laughing for about a half-hour straight before the sad kicked in. So, here be my random notes: -- Tara at the beginning - She has become so strong. I love how she didn't let Willow snow her for a bit. She's come such a long way. She better not be gone for good. -- The mistaken identity thing was such a fun concept. It allowed for tons of references to 'Buffy' past, like Willow saying "and I think I'm kinda gay" just like in Doppelgangland. -- The whole thing reminded me a lot of a Stephen King situation, especially when they were all trying to decide who they were in the Magic Shop. Just a large group of strangers coming to terms with mystical circumstances beyond their control. Very King. -- I like the concept of 'Joan, the Vampire Slayer'. It's a nice tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement by Joss of that common sentiment that 'Buffy' would be much more respected if it weren't titled "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer." -- Hey, guess what i noticed? When Spike was 'Randy', he thought he was Giles' son. Remember in "Restless," in Xander's dream, wasn't Spike saying he was Giles' son? or the other way around? -- It was just the saddest thing when Tara left. But Willow totally deserved it. Still, I felt so bad for Tara, and for Dawn, too. and the previews for next week! I was just saying that Willow should have definitely brought Amy back by now. It should be a good one. Joe btw, for anyone who cares, 'Roswell' was a great episode, too. | | | 11-13-2001, 10:03 PM | #4 | | completely out of line Join Date: Dec 2000 Posts: 1,132 | hey, look at me, i'm research girl! tonight's musical guest was michelle branch http://backstagembranch.tripod.com/b...nch/index.html if you're like my boyfriend, who just asked "why does that sound familiar?", it's probably because michelle branch has a fairly current hit called "everywhere" that's been getting a lot of radio play. gg | | | 11-13-2001, 10:05 PM | #5 | | make love to my brain Join Date: Aug 2000 Posts: 3,457 | Re: Buffy Episode 6.8 "Tabula Rasa" reviews Quote: Originally posted by grianne 1) Why do you think Dawn ran away from Tara? I doubt Tara told her the real reason she was leaving, so I'm sure Dawn was just feeling abandoned by her. I mean, i you think about it, during the summer, Willow and Tara were like Dawn's surrogate mothers. I'm sure she's way hurt. 2) My guess is yes, but no clue how soon. 3) We damn well better! I love Tara! And, i may be wrong, but that singer at The Bronze looked a lot like Michelle Branch. Maybe, maybe not. A couple days ago, I changed my sig to include lyrics to the very song michelle branch sang. My best friend sent me the mp3 a while back and i actually liked the song. I HATE that Giles left. Hate it. I think Dawn was upset at Tara, like Buffy was upset at Giles...they've become parent figures...and however valid their reasons, it seems like they're abandoning Dawn and Buffy. WTF is wrong with Willow. Well, I mean, we all KNOW what's wrong with Willow, but if anything made me hate her, this episode really did. She couldn't go ONE DAY without practicing magick...even knowing she would lose Tara. What's worse, she KNEW that Tara felt her mind had been violated, and she was willing to do it again. SHe had absolutely no respect. And grr..SHE should have been the one to leave, not Tara. If I were Buffy, I would kick her arse out of the house ASAP. I loved the scenes with Giles and Anya in the Magick Box. Soo funny. And I liked the little dig at Angel, when Spike went into his whole "..on a mission of redemption..i help the helpless. i'm a vampire with a soul." thing. I laughed really hard at this episode, but it was very bittersweet. I'm sure we'll see Tara again...Amber Benson (who looked SO lovely in this eppy) is contracted to be in at LEAST 16 episodes this season. | | | 11-13-2001, 10:33 PM | #8 | | almost Brave Join Date: Feb 2000 Posts: 721 | Quote: Originally posted by Emperor Penguin I was laughing for about a half-hour straight before the sad kicked in. | Yes, exactly! Let me just say that I loved this ep. I was completely unspoiled except the preview, so I wasn't expecting anything. (just the way I like it) Then sadness. Much, much more sadness if they take Tara away forever. So relieved to hear that she is contracted for more. And I am very glad they are finally bringing Amy back because it means I was right on target! I was just thinking last night about that. Overall a great way to come back from the musical. blue __________________ send Tori Amos e-cards | | | 11-13-2001, 10:54 PM | #9 | | lifting up her dress Join Date: May 2001 Posts: 4,460 | I do think the Scoobs know it was Willow, or, at least I think Tara, "Alex" and Nwad know. Bad, bad Willow. This episode was fantastic! Thank god for humor! Plenty of good jokes this episode and shows that Joss and Co can laugh at themselves. I agree that Dawn turned away from Tara because she didn't want Tara to leave. How sad! And I even felt bad for Willow- she looked so sad, too! I can't help it- but I'm lovin' the Spike/Buffy kissage. So many good parts of this episode. The Giles/ Anya interaction. Willow "I think I'm kinda gay". Joan the Vampire Slayer. Randy Giles . I can't say it enough- I love this show!!! How low can Willow go? I think it's gonna be a perilous journey through the Dark Side ahead for her, especially now that she's dredging up Amy. Major splitsville ahead in Scoobyland, with Buffy being so distant from everyone now that she won't be conscious enough of the situation to help rein in Willow and hold the gang together. Lots of love n' care is needed, but no one's gonna be in a position to give it. What was interesting was how the Scoobies instinctively banded together when they were all mind-wiped, but as soon as the memories returned, the walls between them came back up. That moment where Will and Tara recoiled from each other really spoke volumes about the complexity of human interaction, and the tragedy of "losing innocence." We make things so difficult with all of our baggage. Good episode, though. Loved the bunnies too. Hated to see it end. By the way, I've discovered that I often find the on-line transcripts of the shows funnier than I do the episodes themselves. Fr'instance, tonight I happened to catch a rerun of the episode where Xander secretly saves the gang from being blown up by dead punks who had been "brought back" (yay Xander!), and I noticed that some of the lines I'd run across as quotes weren't as funny when they were spoken by the actors. Willow's comment about being chased by the hellmouth demon while naked and late for a test comes to mind; for some reason, I pictured Aly Hannigan as delivering the line differently, and in a funnier way. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? | | | 11-13-2001, 11:03 PM | #11 | | i may well be a jew Join Date: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,487 | <font color="scarlet">Ha!
