I'm kinda glad there's reruns for a bit- I need to recover! Amazing work by Alyson! I can't express enough how I love this girl! Will this really be the end of Willow using magic? Of course not! I was rooting for Dawn fighting that demon. She's a smart girl. And smack! Go Dawn! Good for her! That magic guy, Rack?, he creeped me out! And now we know how Amy became so powerful. I think she had more power than she let on pre-rat. I used to like Amy- now I'm pretty wary. I wonder what they'll do with her the rest of the season. It's nice to see Tara, however briefly. I hope she stays on the show. I was pleased with the Buffy/Spike post sex interaction. Marti's doing a great job showing Buffy's denial and Spike's love for Buffy. It's not all passion and sex. We saw the reality of the situation. And Buffy is obviously lying to herself. She's trying so hard to convince herself and Spike that she doesn't care- it's obvious she does. I thought it was a good way to go with the story. Sorry, Dorena and Leina- I hope you don't think less of me, but I although I'm not a Buffy/ Spike shipper, I can see this happening. Spike is certainly not Buffy's soul mate, but he fits for her right now. Coming back from 3 months dead is a big deal. I don't think Buffy came back wrong- I think there are reprocussions we can't begin to imagine. Spike is someone Buffy can relate to right now. Can you see Buffy with Riley right now? I can't. Buffy has to be with someone supernatural. Maybe this episode could have used more funny. It was awfully intense. I'm glad they're bringing back the music- last week the live band at the Bronze and this week when Willow was all magicky. They always play good stuff on Buffy. So heavy and ultimately depressing. Not that i'm complaining. Dramatic arcs being what they are you need to hit some low emotional points. But good lordy, was there one bright spot about this ep? I am very very happy they have kept Tara around. The fact that there was a concerted effort to keep her in these last 2 eps tells me that Tara still has a role in the events of this season. Good. Amy is just a twit. Darn her for helping Willow hit rock bottom. Darn her! She was reckless with her magic back in high school (who turns herself into a rat when she doesn't know how to turn herself back, honestly?) and she's even more reckless now. This ep went heavy on the melodrama, didn't it? It had a few too many 90210-ish dramatic devices, don't you think? The opium-den-ish lair of Rack. The car crash. Still, 'Buffy' being the superior show that it is, they mined these events for their emotional payoff rather than the cheap danger/peril consequences. Alysson Hannigan is just amazing. She's not making Willow an easy character this season, either. It's hard to love her and it's hard to hate her. She is just one big shade of grey. Anyone else notice that Dawn is often the most mature of the group? I am guessing an Anya/Xander centered ep next time we get a new one, cuz they have been back-burner for awhile. Okay, i delayed it as long as i could: Buffy and Spike: THIS IS WRONG! At least the writers realize this and it's not a Riley-like debacle where Joss and Marti tried to tell us that Buffy and Riley belonged together when we just weren't buying it. Buffy's uncontrollable physical attration to him is bringing her to TEARS people! This is not good! Did everyone notice how Willow's magic-addiction was juxtaposed with Buffy's "addiction" to Spike?? Both addictions = destructive to Buffy and Willow. Even the editing agrees with me! Spike's love is just all twisted around. He's either a fierce protector (like he is/was/is with Dawn) or a fierce enemy. With Buffy, he's trying to be both and it ends up just being . . . bad. I am REALLY interested to see how this one ends up. Damn, who knows when we'll get another new ep, so let's GET READY FOR RERUNS! (can't wait for Hush!) Joe | | | 11-28-2001, 12:04 AM | #3 | | I. It seems to have manifested because of her "enhanced" state. And I believe it is some form of unconcious knowledge she has relating to her magic. The fact that it fought on par with buffy also is troublesome. Could that demon have been buffy? the "death is your gift" buffy, perhaps.. without the human part. Just making strange theories.. maybe I'm taking the wrong approach. | | | 11-28-2001, 01:43 AM | #6 | | Superst@r Join Date: May 2001 Posts: 1,575 | are you freaking kidding!!! this episode should have been a season ender! how will i ever get Spikes hot bod out of my mind! mmmm! this episode was really amazing, i hate when this happens, there's so much good stuff to comment on and i dont know where to start. ok, i was just a-gasp during the whole Dawn/Willow part, i couldnt even believe Willow was taking her to the shitty magic place. and when that monster cut Dawn's face, i was like what! how was that happening, and then Dawn kicked him!!! so cool. and just hearing Dawn's terror in that car, sheesh, i was wiggin'. and then BAM! they crash! and then at the end Dawn slaps willow!!!<---sweet! and then Buffy was warning her to stay back, i thought she was gonna pop Willow in the eye! so at this point i was wiggin, like on a level 10!! i'm just...i dont know, that episode was great. i really hope that Buffy is really finished with this Spike scandal, as much as i love me some naked Spike, it just feels all wrong! But for sure, there is no way Willow is giving up magic just yet! When Buffy and her agreed, it didnt seem like either of them believed it. The worst part is, if Willow does give it up or get control and she ends up needing to use it in the future, there will all ways be this control hanging over her head. And i really loving Tara more and more, she's so sweet and wonderful, now i miss her so much! that's it for now~ p hi lli p | | | 11-28-2001, 01:50 AM | #7 | | The Evil Pirate Zamboni Join Date: Feb 2000 Posts: 3,821 | Chrysta----you explained your theories so well, why would I think less of you? First off, from the looks of last week's previews, I seriously thought this Rack demon was casting spells on a person to make the magick in that person last longer...not cast spells directly on them that made them feel like they just shot up some heroin!!!! How in the hell did Amy hook up with this ass in the first place??? Guys, I really really felt dirty watching the opening scene of Buffy and Spike together. I couldn't even believe my eyes when Spike puts his hand up Buffy's skirt. My eyes almost fell out of my head!!!! ...Fucking UPN!!! LOL Okay, I'm not for Buffy and Spike, but when Dawn said, "oh you must be tired from monster-wrestling," I laughed so hard, it hurt my stomach. Willow was so fucking stupid for taking Dawn with her to that ugly motherfucker Rack's place....At first, okay, the demon scratched up Dawn's face. I was thinking, "Buffy's going to kick Willow's ass." Then there's that head-on collision into the column. Okay, Dawn now has a broken arm and a gash on her head. Then that demon comes after her. Dorena had thought Buffy was going to kick Willow's ass AND kick her out of the house! I thought so too. Willow so deserved that slap in the face from Dawn. YES, Dawn IS the most mature of the group! This week's ep = uber-disturbing..... I remember that Marti Noxon had said that she specialises in eps full of breakdowns...Why was I not surprised she had written this one??? Remember Willow's big breakdown scene from "Wild At Heart?" That was Marti's doing..... Oh btw, on a shallow note, I was digging Willow's green shimmer eyeshadow. 5x5, Leina | | | 11-28-2001, 02:12 AM | #8 | | spanking my inner moppet Join Date: Jul 2001 Posts: 1,305 | I feel that I've been all super negative girl now for two weeks...but I thought this episode was really kind of sub par. Even more so than "Smashed". It's been my least favorite one thus far, and since it topped Buffy/Spike sex I must have really not liked the episode. It was just too, too full of painful, cheesy moments which I don't expect from Buffy normally except in rare instances like "Beer Bad" or "Where the Wild Things Are". I mean COME ON. I was really looking forward to the Willow's trip to the dark side thing, but that horrible warlock guy who looked like he'd crawled out of a drain rather than a powerful magic person, the incredible sketchiness of the "Trainspotting" like waiting room, the withdrawal symptoms, the cravings, the weird hallucinations, Willow staggering around, her Big Important Talk with Buffy at the end. It was like a really, really badly done afterschool special. When Amy ran off to the bathroom to vomit I was having wild scary fantasies of more "Trainspotting" rip offs. COME ON. I expect better than this. If Joss & CO. want to write a Willow is addicted to magic like most people get addicted to crack storyline, I would have expected a little less heavy handed version of it. I felt like yelling at the TV--Hey! I get it! IT's like she's a heroin addict! Her screaming tears and falling prostrate on the ground seemed overdone. Too much cheese! Whoever's been dressing Willow lately has been doing a fabulous job though! I liked the parallel of Buffy & Willow's addictions--still icky about Buffy/Spike relations but now really don't think that anything will truly come of that...Buffy's attracted to him, but it's WRONG, and perhaps once she feels more "normal" she won't go there. Disappointed tho that there was no discussion of the "you came back wrong" plot twist. I'm confused about the demon--it was pretty pointless and boring. Maybe it's coming back? It seemed like it died way too quickly. These past two episodes have really needed a jolt of lightness, or some kind of humour even if it's bitter. I wish Anya'd been in more than one scene. And as ever, I wish horribly for Giles to come back. Something. Funny. Not so melodramatic. | | | 11-28-2001, 02:16 AM | #9 | | Superst@r Join Date: May 2001 Posts: 1,575 | Leina Rose- exactly, it was "uber-disturbing"!!! and i totally agree with the eye shadow thing! it was dreamy. i loved the yellow/green shimmery color and i was crazy, Dawn got all tore up, her arm was broken, she was dragged from beneath that car! and then, THEN!!! that monster tosses her for like a mile in the air!!!! i couldnt beleive my eyes!!! p hi ll ip | | | 11-28-2001, 09:47 AM | #10 | | not your average anything Join Date: Aug 2001 Posts: 467 | Well.... I thought it was a marvelous ep.... I think the fact that Dawn actually got hurt helps put into perspective the "Oh Dawn is in trouble again, must be Tuesday" thingy. I think Williow is not done with magic.... Not by a long shot... You don't just decide to give up the one thing that you feel makes you special with a snap and a smile. She's got rough times ahead. And as for Buffy and Spike. They fit right now. Buffy was DEAD. I think its changed her in ways she denies and no one wants to see. There is a commonality between her and Spike that can't be denied. Then you ad in the attraction. They are something, I'm not sure what though. I can't see them holding hands and smooching on the couch, but they give each other something neither of them is getting anywhere else. And I am not just talking about sex... I want to see the rest of this season so bad | | | 11-28-2001, 10:19 AM | #11 | | I'm Chuck Bass Join Date: Jan 2001 Posts: 18,211 | Highlights of the show included: *Naked Spike. He's bad, yes, but he looks good sans cloth. *Dawn slapping Willow. That RULED *Bad Bad Willow I hated : *Buffy's hair is still in briads. What? Is she Pollyanna this season? No. She's a cheap slut who sleeps with vamps. Let her hair down. *Anya's hair. ALSO, I know some of you do not believe in the possibility of Dawn having slayer powers, but did you see her kick that demon across the alley? Girl got some skills, I'm telling you, it will come out next season I bet. | | | 11-28-2001, 10:43 AM | #12 | | completely out of line Join Date: Dec 2000 Posts: 1,132 | i thought this was a pretty yawny ep. i grew tired of the magic as heroin stuff. get a clue, will. and since i'm not the world's biggest fan of dawn...(not that i wanted her to get smushed or eaten or anything) non-yawny parts: naked spike the fabulous willow clothing and makeup good music naked spike gg | | | 11-28-2001, 10:46 AM | #13 | | lifting up her dress Join Date: May 2001 Posts: 4,460 | Quote: Originally posted by delicious dish *Anya's hair. | Yes! I'm so glad someone started mentioning Anya's hair...I'm like "who the fuck is that???" oh i certainly don't like it blond, way better in the old days. on buffy/spike....it's not as wrong as it seems, i don't think. personally i think it's just right, but it's true than can never have a normal relationship, but then neither could she and angel and they stuck that out for 3 seasons or whatever...and besides hello! nakedness! woohoo! willow and the magick/heroin thing....i don't think it's cheesy. it's a connection that none of us could have made when willow first started with the magick, and i think it raises the caliber of the show to be so serious about generally non-serious topics ("monsters and whatnot"). And every once and a while we should be hit on the head with a no comedy ep. that's about it, i guess...except I want more Tara!!!! She should have come in at the end to help Willow, but i guess that maybe would be a little cliche....oh well Karen P.S. I did NOT like willow's eyeshadow. blech. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -4.
